Classic RPGs in the vein of Baldur's Gate would do.

(And yes, I still play tedious, longwinded old-school RPGs)

Is it part of the Divinity series of games?

Yes. Though I think its a prequel to the first game in the series Divine Divinity.

EDIT: Not sure if it applies to anything you typed aside from being RPG

Don't get septerra core on steam, it's not on the newest update so it freezes at a boss fight and the audio cuts off early a lot of the time. Get it on GOG.

I wasn't aware of that myself, i bought it on Steam for novelty, played it way back on my windows 95 machine...had shitty frame rate on that machine anyways..

You can play the CD version of Septerra Core on modern Windows, by running it in compatibility mode.

Oh, i haven't had the CD for it in some 15 years or so.
I tried to play it after i got it on Steam, and i guess its not really my type of game any more..well i mostly couldn't remember where to go or with whom to speak, so i put it aside for now.
But if it freezes as Johnbob said above, i may just avoid it..

You can bypass that by installing the patch yourself.

You might want to check out Spiderweb games. (Avernum, Geneforge, etc)

New games with an old game feel? Divinity already mentioned, start there. Wishlist Wasteland 2 while you're at it. Can't think of anything else atm.

Edit: Oh, Aarklash Legacy, which is on sale right now. That's more strategy than RPG, I've heard.

Thank you for the pointers, and....Wasteland 2's system requirements are quite high!

Divinity Original Sin is both new, shiny, and styled like an old-school RPG. I highly recommend it.

Spiderweb games is pretty solid. I loved Avernum Escape From the Pit, more than I have Baldur's Gate (so far, haven't played BG as much). One catch though, it's a remake of the original, so it's old style but newer? Still has graphics that make you think you're playing in the 90s though, it's just that the UI and what not is really cleaned up and better controls, can't really go wrong IMO

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Witcher are excellent RPGs on Steam. Planescape: Torment, and Anachronox are not on Steam, but they are also incredibly good.
