Remember the backlash EA received for adding a microtransaction into a single player game?

SE is really living in the future. A New Year letter from Yosuke Matsuda mentioned all those hot topics. Honorable mention goes to the part where "some people who “play to have fun” and who currently form the majority of players have voiced their reservations toward these new trends, and understandably so. However, I believe that there will be a certain number of people whose motivation is to “play to contribute,” by which I mean to help make the game more exciting"
I suppose charging $80 for next-gen games will only get you so far.
What a way to start a year, good job Square.
