No, if i click on your profile here or on steam it shows your avatar picture, the white boxes are only on the forum itself.
At first i thought it was just an user that choosed white on purpose, but then i saw it happened with more people.

The problem is quite strange and seems to come from the site itself since you are not the only one concerned.

I've encountered different (missing word, which I can't think of, maybe responses?, site-loadings?) site appearances from different networks in the past (some provider issues). This time it may be a Steam issue, as another member mentioned below, or any change to the site, as was done with the 10-year suspension. Probably the first.

There was an issue some time ago with Steam storing avatars on side-CDNs.
AuthenticationFailed (Microsoft) and ExpiredToken (Google) errors.

I was affected too. My old\current picture was broken, no matter how many times i reuploaded it.
Sometimes it was only 1 or 2 out of 3 different-sized variants.
Only slightly different (and bigger in my cause) picture worked.
Until one day i was able to upload old one without issues.
I guess users with white avatars affected on Steam too, not only on SG.
I was seeing this for quite some time both here and in Steam.
Quite rare in Steam now, but still often on SG.
It's just somewhat random, as there's around 5 different CDNs now.
So i suggest to re-upload their avatar to fix this.
Though it may get worse - do it at your own risk.

I don't have any problems now, but I had the same thing happen in the past (I think it was around 2 or 3 weeks ago). I think Steam sites were also loading really slow or unresponsive for me at that time, but all other websites were fine. I just figured SG was pulling that info from Steam and since Steam was having an issue at the time, it was causing the stuff here to not load.
I think when it happened to me, some of the game pictures for giveaways were also missing.

weird.. i didn't notice anything at all until i scrolled to the bottom here and the last two commenter's photos (alltracturbo and skyups) are not showing. you have spread the curse to me.
alltracturbo's sg profile shows the photo though, and both steam profiles show them.
perhaps some backend communications hiccup?
