I really need to replace my current phone, an old Samsung with Android OS v2.2 and sellotape holding the battery in. What little I know about the Huawei is that the screen is slightly bigger and it has a more recent version of the Android OS (4.4 or 4.5, I only had a glance at the box). Oh, and its cheaper to get one than it would cost to top up my current phone, despite it being a pre pay phone rather than some 'free' phone (AKA pay $50 a month for a year). They usable or will it fall apart before my Samsung?

I did want something that would play games, but seriously, sellotape. I can always get a Android tablet later for the games.

Edit - Googled the phone, found the model. Though might be impossible to grab one, seems the store site is mentioning its sold out. :P

I have a (cheap) 100€ one and am perfectly fine with it. Don't play games though and am also not a heavy mobile-phone user, so my standards aren't really high there..

A friend of mine owns one, and he says it's alright.

Try to give us more info about the Huawei, they have a lot of good phones, but the specs are still important.

I honestly don't know. Mum has one of the cheap ones I might get, I just tried Opera Mini and my regular EBook software, both worked. I don't know the model, and neither would she if I contacted her. :P

Looking for more what they are like in general. Cheap tat or decent quality?

The Huawei G620s is pretty cheap and really decent phone for a mid spec, cheaper than a Motorola G 2014 or some other phones

Edit: that model that u posted... is pretty old :/ it wont be good to play games or to run a lot of aplications smoothly ... so in a long run it will be a waste of money ...

not me but my cousin uses Huawei Y520 for 2-3 months. android 4.4 , around 90$. pretty basic. NOT for playing games. just regular call ,sms & net surfing. if you don't use radio & wifi continuously it lasts for 1.5 - 2 days. with wifi have to charge every night. no other complaints.
try motorola E(2nd gen) if you want latest android ( 140ish $)

If I had money, I'd get a decent phone. But between my lack of cash and near dead phone, any old crap is tempting as long as its better than what I have.

Doubt it would be useful here in New Zealand. :P

Can't always find what you guys have, and then regional pricing will make some a worse choice over another when it might be the reverse there.

I was close to picking up the flagship phone, which has dual SIM, whereby both SIM cards are 4G -- this is incredibly rare; most high-end dual SIM phones do 4G for the first SIM card and 2G or 3G for the second slot -- but just couldn't justify buying a phone with such a tacky gold finish.

The specs, including battery life, were great, though.

I have a Huawei Ascend G7, it costs 1/3 of the price of a Samsung phone here, and the specs are pretty much the same. So far, no incidents and works smoothly.

I had a Huawei once, used it for about a year and the battery life is constantly decreasing to a point where it took only an hour to fully charge it and 30 minutes to use up. I always feared that it might blow up one day. Was pretty laggy too even after formatting. Can't remember what model it was but it wasn't the Note type

Get a XiaoMi brand instead, it's also made in China but the specs are beast and the price is dirt cheap
I'm currently using a Redmi Note which I bought for only around $150 on the official site (not including postage)
It has 8 core and can multitask really well.
Only thing you should worried about is hoping that it doesn't blow up.

The problem with that is that a store isn't selling them for NZ$25, that and the fact its newer than my Android OS v2.2 mobile is why I wanted to know about them.

Xiaomi are rather good. I have a Mi 1S (Original, not Redmi). However, Huawei are pretty highly regarded here as well, particularly amongst the business phone crowd. I don't think they are "fashionable" like Xiaomi, iPhone, Galaxies, etc.

Nopenopenopenopenopenope please avoid it :c
Not because it's a Huawei, just because it's a supershitty phone.
512 mb of ram for an android phone are way too little even with kitkat(4.4), it's will be quite slow and unusable, plus those cheap androids usually have a shitty memory configuration, it says 4gb but you'll only have around 1,5gb for your apps or even less! And you can't move apps to the sd (well yeah you can but not the google ones unless rooting and those are the largest) which will annoy you with the message "insufficent space".

How much do you want to spend? What will you use the phone for? If you're on a tight budget for around 100-120€ you can get a lumia 535, it's awesome for the price, if you want android look for the cheapest version of the new asus zenphone 2 or for the honor 3c which doesn't look so bad and it's still huawei:

Edit: or for an even cheaper alternative a lumia 435, for low end phones Lumias are the best choice IMHO
