That's a very good reason for a very nice classic game. :-)
And there are tons of free maps, skins, mods, mutators and total conversions for UT 2004 out there.
My favorite UT2004 mod is Ballistic Weapons.

I remember that I played UT 2004 with a bunch of friends from the internet around 2012 and they told me which mods, maps and other stuff ot install. Can't recall any names now, but I was pretty impressed about the difference each game mode and map made when playing :)

The interesting thing is that GG did the conversion and submitted the converted amount to Paypal, rather than submitting in pounds and letting Paypal convert. Much better and a few cents cheaper.

Yes, you can buy it directly from the UK site and it will activate just fine in the U.S. No need for a VPN.

You don't have to use a VPN. The conversion to USD is automatic for U.S. Paypal accounts. Not sure how it would work with a credit card.

This It always feels bad, for me, when I have to buy stuff I already own but at least these games deserve to be bought several times :D
Edit: Although I have to start to question my behavior as a consumer with all the repurchasing I'm doing. Already owning all but UT3 on GOG and almost the entire pack on steam. I guess this is what happens when people produce quality content
