Yes, because you "reward" the active discussions user to enter these invite-only GAs (with higher chances due to less people entering). This effect can also be increased by hidden links or puzzles.

But it doesn't hurt to post a public GA here. Users here are just expecting invite-only GAs.

Oh, and when you want to answer someone directly, use the "Reply" button at the bottom of their posting (instead of the comment box at the bottom of the page), then they receive a notification.
