Yeah, I think it was 30%.
Which isn't that bad when you think of the hike-up that real-life stores use for physical products.

I never liked playing 1v1 matchmaking myself, too much pressure. I did play some 2s/3s/4s but mostly just played 1v1 with a friend or bot matches (either 1v2 or 2v3/2v4 with my friend) and had plenty of fun with just that. If you have a few friends to play with it's great fun playing private matches without all the competitiveness/pressure of playing ranked games. even without all that, it's still a great game just for single player.
Also, if you just like micro'ing, check out Infested Planet on Steam, it's a bit simpler than most RTS and lacks any type of economy/resource management that you have in RTS but the unit controls feels and plays like RTS games

When I played SC1 I always preferred 3v3, and 4v4 was second best. I never liked 1v1 either. I did not like AI however, it gets boring because the AI always plays the same way + it's pretty lonely. For me it was about public matches with random strangers. I would have glady played with friends, if I had any :(

I've never played it, but I love the original one. My brother just installed the second one yesterday to replay it single player only and highly recommends it.
I always get expansions as well and will be picking up this trilogy at some point.

I loved the first StarCraft and have been patiently waiting for all three SC2 games to come out so I can buy the Battle Chest (not paying full price each for 3 parts of the campaign). It is absolutely worth it for SP only.

En Taro Tassadar! If you like the first SC, the second is great too, I'm not big on RTS multiplayer either, and coming from Bliz, I'm kinda in it for the story, so short answer, BUY IT! but if you want it to be more like the original, put it on Hard from the start, I found it very hand holdy (modern) compared to the original. AI in story mode just doesnt have many teeth :(

Well the base game is $20 and if you buy it with both expansions it scales to $60 but it seems the solo campaigns will take you around 20h each, and if you played SC1 then you know that the campaigns are excellent, it was the first game that I fell in love when I got my first (family) desktop back in the 2000s.
En Taro Adun! En Taro Tassadar! FOR AIUR!

I am sure, that if you wait some more until Wings of Liberty & Heart of the swarm will be on sale around the release of Legacy of the Void (10th November).

For my part, I bought SC2 when it was out for the single player mode only, because of the many hours I spent in the past with Wc2 or SC. Well, it turned as a big deception, I just hated the game. The single player campaign is clearly designed as a training for multiplayer competition: it's all about frenetic clicking, forget about the idea of relaxing gaming.
Of course, this is my personal thoughts on this, I'm part of the minority who dislike that game, but the vast majority of people think it's awesome. Color and tastes...

The base game campaign was fun along with arcade stuff which is something like Warcraft 3 in Starcraft 2 (better engine, moar stuff...). I left game when that first DLCshowed up, it's price was ridiculous but my retail game still lies in front of me.

You should definitely buy it for the campaign. One of the best single player RTS campaigns ever, I would say.
I actually have a spare key which I'd be willing to trade, If you're interested.

It's awesome enough to warrant a purchase only for the single-player. I've never played SC2 multiplayer, and the single-player campaigns are just breathtaking. Also, compared to other AAA titles, you can actually obtain the game for about €35 from the right stores (whereas other AAA titles are often in the €50 range).
Also, even though SC2 completely broke custom mapmaking, you can still get unlimited fun with mods and the like.
EDIT: I just noticed you're talking about the base SC2 game which can be obtained for way cheaper now since it is several years old. It's definitely worth it then. But I do recommend getting the entire trilogy if you like the base game.

I don't play much rts at all and never play multiplayer. I purchased Wings of Liberty and HOTS and thoroughly enjoyed the single player both have. I think it's the first and only rts I've actually completed the campaign. I would definitely recommend both and am looking forward to Legacy of the Void.

So I've played SC2 when it first came out, just single player (SP). I really enjoyed it given that there just aren't that many new, good RTS games out there anymore. I'm a big fan of C&C, WC, SC1. But TBH I never really got into RTS multiplayer much, and am not big on getting into the competitive scene. I plan to play ONLY single-player.
My question: Is SC2 worth it to buy if I want a mostly single-player experience? Should I consider buying the expansions?
