Look at the differences and decide, yo. Personally, I somewhat prefer X. Then again, I'm gonna wait until around Christmas time to see if any potential news of Pokemon Z will pop up or not.

Okay, here's my take on X and Y. If you want to get it for the legendaries, get X. Xerneas and Yveltal are equally powerful stat wise, but Xerneas has type advantage (Fairy > Dark) and can learn moves to easily dispatch Yveltal. If you're getting it for the mega-evolutions, again, in my opinion, get X. The X variety Mega-evolutions look cooler and are more useful in battle from what I've seen. If you just don't care, I second Dsc, flip a coin.

Actually, nothing changes much, except for the Legendaries, some Mega Evolutions, and other pokemon. However, if you want to get a higher advantage in facing other people, i suggest that you buy X, because Xerneas can actually do really well in battle, even against Yveltal (due to type advantage) and also has the best Mega Evolutions (I played both of them, mind you) , or get Y, because it has the better "exclusive" pokemon. Or just wait for Pokemon Z.

I'll get an X in december, when I will buy a 3DS. Reason: Mega Charizard X. Other than that, it doesn't really mater which game to play. At least, for me.

how ironic, this question is never gonna change is it? every year over the kids ask themselves, should i buy X or Y? or maybe Z?

I've always thought pokemon editions came in 16.8 mio different colors and now they've apparently even added versions with letters too? OMG! I need to have them, right now.
