I am going to buy a new monitor soon but I don't know if I should get a regular monitor or a Full HD monitor.

Specs: XFX HD7770 1GB DDR5 Dual Fan /
AMD Phenom II X4 3.4 GHz /
Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 1600MHZ /
Corsair VS450w power supply /

The monitor I'm using right now is a LG 1440x900 resolution and I can play Crysis 2 at max settings (execept for vsync which is off) and I get about 40-50 frames per second.

Now my question is, will my frames drop a lot if I get a Full HD monitor? Please help me decide.
Sorry for my english.

Full HD, because there are a bunch of indie games, for example, that you can run on HD.

Frames can drop if you get a better monitor, but you can still use the same resolution for games like Crysis 2.

Also, if you replace your computer, you can use your Full HD Monitor. That's what i did with my PC (it could only run games like Killing Floor on 720p and now i can run Metro 2033 on 1080p, using the same monitor as before).

Thank you for your comment.
I'm not planning in replacing my computer soon because I just bought it a few weeks ago...
What if I wanted to play games like Crysis 2 on a 1920x1080 resolution? Would the frames drop a lot ?

Yes, about ~10 fps.

I wouldn't go larger unless: a) you don't mind playing at a lower resolution/quality and/or using GPU-scaling; b) you're going with a dual monitor setup and can game on the smaller one; or c) you plan on upgrading your graphics card soon.

Otherwise, bigger is better up to 30" :>

if you have a xfx ghost edition with dual fans it may have a lifetime warranty, therefore it is better to keep the xfx graphics card and old monitor
