So I bought now a key for Elex from a trader and when I activated it, it said "Elex for Beta Testing" when i checked the store I says how I got Elex in my Library and the trader told me it's a normal full game. Since I never bought something like this, just wanted to check here if that's all legit? The game won't be removed or this key doesn't get updates or something like that that will not give me the full access and benefits of the normal game? Like I said, trader to me it's the same as selling on steam. Anyone got the same key or has more info, would be very grateful!

I don't own the game, but according to steamdb there are two IDs for the Beta and the full game:

https://steamdb.info/sub/81994/

https://steamdb.info/sub/81995/

I assume that you got a pure beta-key.

You're right, haven't checked that - stupid me. :) But there is also a developers key with the same APPID, and I think this key is only for developers. Besides this, beta-keys can be blocked afaik.

But if the game starts, there should be a text which shows it - or not, depends.

If it was different appid the beta would have a diffrent steam store page. I think its pretty common they have same appid because appid is to the base game. But if its a beta key, there is a good chance that the key will be revoked in the future now that the full game has been released.

If it's revoked in the future, it may be too late to contact the seller for a refund. But I hope, that won't happen.

I guess the version needs to show when it get's fully dl on steam and I start it so we can see then. Someone told me I can expect to get the type of key revoked so I will lose the game from my library. That is maybe possible, would suck...

True, when you start the game, there should be a text - mostly in a corner - if it's a beta. And, the game is out of beta, so eventually it won't start if it's a beta-key.

Well the download is 21.50GB so that also dosen't look like a beta. We will see when it comes to 100% in a a 10min

"[game] for Beta Testing" is Steam's default name for prerelease keys.

So it's probably a key meant for press/content creators, but sometimes devs use those for other purposes like giveaways or by mistake.

Valve doesn't allow big batches, so it should be impossible to make those for sale purposes.

But as for expiry, devs have to manually revoke keys, so can't say anything about that just by name.

So or so, I'll keep my fingers crossed! :)

It's most likely a key from before release, that would have given you beta access as a bonus if you had activated it back then.

I run the game and all works normally, doesn't say anything about beta version...
