Can I enter in giveaways for games that aren't available in my region? For example, now there's a giveaway of Natural Selection 2, but this game isn't available in my region. Can I still enter in the giveaway? And if I win, will I be able to play the game?

I don't know if this has been asked before, but I was curious.

I would assume no. Did you read the FAQ before posting this?

Yes, but it says that Steamgifts shouldn't be used to avoid regional pricing, I don't know if that applies to region-restricted games, since they are not sold in my region... Maybe I missed something in the FAQ?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. I've never let that stop me from entering giveaways. You can still own these games, and they can still be freely gifted across regional lines. I think using it to bypass regional pricing would involve paying someone in another region to buy it at their lower price and having them gift it to you. Coming to think of it, I don't even know how that would apply to Steamgifts at all.

Should be fine! Gifts across regions are fine, iirc.

As long as it's not a key.

It depends on the region and the game.

ie I know a person in Japan who has had games gifted to him, but he can't play them from Japan. And I heard that the PC Gamer episodes weren't able to be redeemed in non-US before the international release. Perhaps it's just games that are intended to be released eventually in that particular region.

Although, most games are fine to gift to a different region.

But just be aware that there are exceptions.
