More fragmentation?
On steam they're... Just check DBZ Xenoverse for example, R$45,49 now for brazillians and U$25,00 for americans (almost R$100,00)..

Check Fallout 4, MGS V, PES16. Pretty much the same price. You forgot something, those prices were based on R$2:$1, now R$3.9:$1, we are paying twice what we used to pay, that if you ignore the fact that the games are now worth twice what they used to...
We used to have games that were $15+ cheaper than US store, and that you can call cheaper.
@EDIT
Btw, that's easy to understand, when you could buy 100-200 games month now you can't buy a single game...

Those are probably the only games that are a little higher priced here then in the US... And were actually paying the same thing we were paying when the dollar was 2:1. Can
t you call cheaper dbz xenoverse for exemple? Its half the price here.. I know that
s because Real is so low priced right now but still..

Well, I see your point that it would be easier to understand how the prices went up if you used to buy a lot of games and now you just can't because of prices, like what happens when you go to the market :p

Yeah.. Although my account is 7 years old, I just started buying lots of games about 4 months ago... You probably have a more secure point of view then mine, since I don`t have your experience heheh :d

Man, you missed the best part of brazilian store, like 2 years ago when they opened it. Pre-orders for big games were like R$65-80. That time I could say brazilian store had reasonable prices.

The thing is, Steam encourage Dev's and Publishers to a fair price on Brazil. If the price is too high on Steam, blame publishers and dev's. Also, the Real isn't helping, BTW.

I highly doubt it. Talked to a couple devs that I knew and Steam gives a shit about Brazil or any other store.
Yet, if they really care about publishers they would never lock all games without asking...

Good news, certainly!
I don't think the prices are decided only based on GDP and what not. There's market research as well. For example, how much are PC games in store there? They might use that as a guideline. Here, PC games are cheaper than console games because of taxes (they fall into different categories, software and gambling, respectively, if I'm not mistaken - yes, it's stupid). So, the games on Steam follow the same pricing as in-store boxed games.

I don't know.
For example: south america is already locked and will stay locked, but with its own currencies.
I guess that if prices will stay (more or less) the same, ROW regions will stay ROW

I'm unsure of how this will affect South Africa. Currently we pay about $45 for a new retail release. Will the new prices be in line with this?
Edit: Origin's prices are in line with the retail prices.

Wait does this mean more region locks? shit. That means I can't buy anymore gifts D: sad life

Hi,
Regarding, reddit post, there'll be
South Korean Won (KRW)
Swiss Franc (CHF)
Indian Rupee (INR)
Chinese Yuan Renminbi (CNY)
Chilean Peso (CLP)
Peruvian Nuevo Sol (PEN)
Columbian Peso (COP)
South African Rand (ZAR)
Taiwan New Dollar (TWD)
Saudi Riyal (SAR)
Hong Kong Dollar (HKD)
United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED)
currencies will be added during Q4 2015 - Q1 2016
Considering the countries, some will get cheaper prices and few may get higher prices due their national average income. If you're in any of these countries, it is advised to take cautions beforehand; if you expect a decrease, wait for your regional prices or if you expect a rise buy while you can. This also means lesser region free gifts for SGs IMO. What do you think?
Thx.
Edit: average income page on wikipedia
