one to see how bad it was and the other one because I had to wait for a friend for a long time
so I waited there because of the internet

Maybe it's a regional difference, but if you just get a cup of coffee there it's less than $2.
It's terrible coffee, yeah, but I've grabbed it on my way to work a few times when there were no better options.

I go if they send me a bogo coupon, or if there is nowhere else for internet. I really don't like their coffee... but refills are priced okay compared to other places. I actually prefer McDonald's coffee, which is about the only thing I get from McD's. I can get internet from the McD's parking lot.

I went once, years ago. It cost me about 2.80€ (or was it 3.80€ ?) for a small one. For that price you'd at least expect something better than a cup made of paperboard. For that price you'd also expect a coffee that's at least decent. Never went again. For 1.10€ I can take a coffee anywhere that actually tastes good and the cup is made of glass or clay.

I'm from Italy bro.... The nation that started the good coffee culture.
My country refused even to let Starbucks open selling points. I went once to that place when I was in Prague but I can't really think of drinking 1/2 liter of coffee

Starbucks initially decided that Italy was not worth investing into due to our more traditional (and far less varied) coffee culture and the damage their image would sustain if they failed (since it originally took inspiration from our cafes). I believe Autogrill holds its rights - and if you travel, you will have noticed how 'recently' they've started offering the option of taking your coffee away in paper cup and broadening their offer. Arnold Coffee has also opened a couple of shops in Milano and Firenze though they don't seem to be awfully popular.
It's pretty much inevitable at this point.

It has decent hot chocolate. But the coffee itself is mediocre at best. If I'm traveling, I might stop in at one, but only if there's no alternatives.
However, I hear they are diversifying their menu options to include wine and hor d'oeurves. Fancy.

Oh dear.
I mostly know Starbucks from their tendency to come up with ridiculous recipes to camouflage that their coffee is actually quite poor.
And now I have visions of substandard wine, with bits thrown in there that don't belong there like raspberry pods and bacon bits.

I like to go every so often, a giant $6 coffee blended slushy is a nice treat. I always like to put ice in my coffee when I make it at home, and for a while I was on a kick where I'd blend it up and use brown sugar instead of cane. I wouldn't go everyday even if I lived close to one though, that would add up fast and I'd rather add to my Criterion collection.

Starbucks has coffee?!
In seriousness, not only is their usual fare a weird extra-light ('blonde') half-burnt nightmare served with skim milk and tears, they actually have a second chain under the starbucks umbrella that sells CHEAPER coffee (forget the name, though.)
That being said, I once went to a Starbucks that offered 'gourmet blends', and unlike, say, the Starbucks-branded stuff you can get in grocery stores (that also tastes like literal garbage), it was halfway decent.
Only ever seen that once, though, and I think it was because the Starbucks there bought out another shop, and incorperated their old brews into their menu.
Alas.
The internet is nice, though :X
The pastries are.. okay.. if quite overpriced :X
$5 for a bite-size slice of cake? Come on now, Starbucks..
I love cake, but your cake just isn't good enough to justify something like $60 a cake.
Then again, you charge the same for your even-worse coffee, so..
Anyway, I've had some starbucks drinkers tell me what they actually like about it:
"Familiarity. No matter where I go, Starbucks tastes the same. Sure, it's awful, but I like not having to think about it."
"Brand awareness. Everyone knows what a Starbucks is. I say, 'meet at the Starbucks', they know what I mean. It's just easy. I don't really care too much about the coffee."
So long as those are sentiments people have, Starbucks'll continue to prosper.

Not for the coffee, no. I really only go there to meet someone. It's a somewhat informal and ok place to go if you need to meet someone in a more casual way. I used to go quite often to Starbucks and McCafe when I was living in EasternEurope. But yeah, it's not a place I would go otherwise, and specially not to drink coffee.

How many of you actually pay $5 a day for a coffee that's worth $0.90?
