As far as I know, John DiMaggio (Bender voice) still not agreed to return, yet. Hard to imagine the show without his voice.

A robot voice change should be pretty easy to justify in a scenario though.

It's definitely easy to justify the voice change, but in this case it's not going to work, because fans associate John DiMaggio with Bender's voice and they know that, as of now, hes not returning because the studio don't 'want to pay him properly.'Hopefully they will agree eventually.

I'd be curious to know what kind of "properly" we're talking about though... Apparently it was enough for the rest of the cast, which include some better-known actors

Of course we don't know exactly what are those terms they disagree on, but it looks like he spoke about the payment for the whole cast. Maybe the others just agreed for the sake of it, not necessarily because they are fully satisfied. Obviously there are greedy actors, but there are many who are not properly paid, considering what obscene sums of money these studios often make.

Yeah I saw he wanted all the cast to be paid more as well. Still, I'm pretty sure that for instance Katey Sagal can defend herself (and, unlike him, could before Futurama even started). My guess is everyone here is comfortably way above minimum wage already (which seems good enough for a job which consists in reading lines) and if Futurama was such a cash cow, it wouldn't have been canceled a few times already.
Also there's no free lunch, so if actors get paid even more, in the end it's the consumer who's paying. He forgets to mention that when he encourages the fans to support him in his quest for a raise. Running a Patreon would be the transparent way to ask for his raise 👀

I agree with what you say, sometimes actors ask way more than they supposed to get, but that's the way the world functions these days, whether we like it or not. Still curious if they really went for a small sum or John just knows he can get more and just pushing for that.

Yeah I wish we could know that... There's a lack of transparency here for sure ^^

Probably they will agree, "for the fans".

It ended on a high note, but I don't mind. The show has had time to gather new ideas, and just releasing x number of episodes once in a while is a lot better than milking it. Looking forward to it (please don't let this age like milk).

Story ended. Let it go. Especially without John DiMaggio.

The ending was really satisfying so I'm a bit conflicted about the series coming back, it's not like when they confirmed new seasons after the movies and I was excited to see Futurama back on TV, I'm honestly doubtful if they can live up to the expectations after so many years.

Considering the story "ended" and it was revived three times IIRC, I don`t really mind it being brought back once again. They surely know how to handle that.
As long as the cast and writing staff are the same. I might catch fire for this - but I absolutely loath SJW and woke culture in shows. And as far as they retain to the same type of humor I would love some new series. If inclusion and politics is in the market - well, good riddance.

As for Dimagio ... I'm split on this - IMO Bender was most definitely one of the best if not the best character that built the story up... might work without him and might as well be a dumpster fire... We`ll see and I'll keep an open mind.

I agree about woke culture. Not because I don't agree with those messages, but writers who strive to have inclusion are often terrible at conveying it in an elegant way. The strong female MC doesn't have to scream to the audience that "I am a woman and NOT a man and I can do this just fine on my own!", they could just show it instead.

It also needs to be the right place to introduce these things. The game Murder by Numbers suffered from this - it's about a few people solving murder mysteries, but half the plot revolved around issues in society. I don't care about discussing what gender the robot character is, I just want to read a murder story and solve some puzzles! Hopefully Futurama writers are aware that their show is really not the place to pander to social media.

Yeah, definitely. Of course I support the fight for equality itself, but intervening with shows we have grown to love to portray these messages in my opinion is overly forcing it. What we mostly get is talentless writers butchering legacy of legendary writers in order to promote different ideologies... That's why for me it's important that the original cast and writers remain.

Good example-ish would be the Powerpuff girls reboot. They went from an epic kids show with brutal fights to... everything is cute and we're all friends. I don't know why childrens show producers think that kids can't handle fun violence anymore and everything has to be about life lessons, but I guess that's the thing nowadays.

The last episodes brought a good amount of great endings for each character. And the final of the story was superb. Part of me wants it to be left that way. But well, I do like Futurama, so why not some new episodes?

Funny you are mentioning Futurama, it's one of the series I am currently re-watching on Disney+ ... I have to be honest, I am not 100% sold out on the idea of Futurama's return. I personally think that latter series were not that funny / entertaining anymore.
