Well, I don't live on the internet like some people..

Heroes of Might and Magic is totally different from the main Might and Magic line.

yeah, the M&M series has so many spinoffs. The original is a first person RPG. But then we have FPS like Dark Messiah, 3rd person action like Crusaders of Might and Magic, TBS like Heroes of Might and Magic, even a Counter-Strike clone in Legends of Might and Magic.

Most of the spinoffs have been good though. I can not say much about Dark Messiah, Crusaders, or Legends though since I have not played them myself. But I know of people who have and watched videos. They all seemed like fun games.

Yeah, I didn't list all of the spinoffs. There are too many!

Same here, I was totally surprised to see they picked up the series.
My favorite is the 7, which I completed too many times, and I really like the 8 for the other side of the coin it shows us.
The 9 was interesting but somewhat limited, and too buggy.

Sadly Uplay is not better than this http://aardling.com/wp-content/uploads/jack-sparrow.jpg

I played all Assassin's Creed series through Uplay launcher and my experience was really bad, their servers usually where down so I had to play games offline if possible without earning Achievements, usually I had problems with the games, at first time when Uplay launcher was installed it was not letting me enter my account I had to delete one file called "hostname", and some time when servers were down too. About M&M series ppl are complaining that you buy it and after can't play because of this stupid launcher., just look the discussions.

I own it and Uplay doesn't cause any trouble at all. I went back 10 discussion pages, and I found no one else who issues with Uplay either, more than "I hate it". The game crashes and freezes, but that's not Uplay-related.

I got Anno 2070 during summer sale last year, could not play for a week because UPlay servers were down. I know there's an offline mode thing, but I couldnt even register the game because the servers were down.

There's a reason Dark Messiah is a spinoff and not a part of the main series....
I think you're looking for Dark Messiah 2 rather than Might & Magic X

Main series is free roam, not on a grid like this new one.
I would like a Dark Messiah 2 as well. Such an awesome game.

Errr, no, thanks. The Might and Magic RPG series and the Heroes of Might and Magic series stopped for me with the number 9 for RPG
s and number 4 with the TBS's. And even those last were a bit of a stretch, but at least they were linked to the original storylines. The Ubi games are just a generic fantasy universe. The old series were more than that. A mix between fantasy and science-fiction.
This M&M X is trying to cash on the nostalgic factor, forgetting that the M&M RPG players were, probably, even more hardcore then the HOMM players.

+1 totally agree, but the main series ended at 8 for me. Not to mention this new one will require UPlay. I think they're forcing this one to be tile and turn based too.

It is in the new Might and Magic Heroes universe, and it looked like it is cell-by-cell like the old wizardry and M&M 1-5. I am looking forward to giving it a shot though. My favorites were M&M 6 and 7, not gotten too far in 8, but that is because I had just played through the previous two, and was getting a little burned out on the gameplay, will get back to it again though. I think it would be interesting if they re-released the 1-5 in an updated form though.

Yea I seen the stuff for the new one already. Looking forward to it to be honest. Loved the old games. Remember spending a lot of hours into them lol.

I played MM6, 7 and 8, 6 being my all-time favorite. I enjoyed them more than Dark Messiah to be honest.
When I saw the new one last week, I was quite disappointed that they made it into a Legend of Grimrock-kind of game. The freedom to explorer shit openly was one of the major fun factors in the old games.

This grid based nonsense in the new game. One of the fun parts of MM6 was casting fly in turn based mode and dodging enemy attacks.

My head almost exploded when I saw the steam store page for Might and Magic X - Legacy! I used to play the old M&M rpgs to death(and still do, M&M8 is my fav :D)!
I never thought they'd actually bring it back. My hopes for this game are already way too high, but I can't help it. If they can mimic the feel of the originals even by half, then it will be worth paying full price.
Anyhow, did anyone else play those old M&M rpgs?
