Apparently you can get over 1700 achievements for as low as 1 euro and 15 minutes of gameplay.
Personally I enjoy getting achievements in games I like but this is a bit ridiculous in my opinion.
What do you think?
The game in question is Zup! 3 http://store.steampowered.com/app/575640

How do you feel about achievements?

View Results
I love them, I grind everything in games to get that sweet 100% completion
I like them, but I'm not gonna grind the game to death just to get everything
They are ok, I don't really bother with them, but I check them once in a while
Don't care at all
I just unlock everything with SAM

They're fun for some of us? I mean, realistically what is the point of playing video games at all

Did you even saw those achievements? Earn one by beating some hard level is ok, but earn one by opening the level doesn't sound lazy for ya?

If it's the only way to get your game sold, I don't see why not. (Though if that is the case, the game shouldn't have gotten through to Steam at all...)

Seriously... this nonsense should actually be reined in by valve. Five achievements for opening every level. No difference between them I take it? Yeah I enjoy achievement hunting, but if it gets to the point where every one is making (and playing) games like this it very quickly loses the point.

Yes I am disappointed by this, what is the point of trying to earn achievements if you can just essentially buy them for a bit of cash

Yes I agree. Some games do hand out achievements liberally, but this is the first I've seen where whole batches of them are identical. It's literally making zero attempt to disguise that this is a cash in.

Achievements: Open level P (7 achievements) - Pass the level P! (7 achievements) ... and so on.
Seems legit. Basically, give us money and we give you achievements for anything.

idc about the cheevos, but zup 1 & 2 were still pretty fun (even though they were super easy), so purchased. xD
thanks for info.

I just bought it, too. Also, there are free DLC for the first two games if you didn't see them yet.

They are more for people who like to use the cheevo icons to decorate their profile eg, spell their name.

67p for 1,700+ icons is pretty good considering how much profile backgrounds and such can cost.

Yup. Any anyone just a little interested in achievements know how much they do (not) worth as "achievements", so no real harm done anyways. Quality > quantity, and it's just one 100% even if completed anyways :D

I always thought "achieving" something meant accomplishing some difficult task personally. So 100%ing this game wouldn't really be much of an achievement, now would it ;)

I agree with other comments that using this game in decorating profiles and such is probably the main use, though it still bothers me because reasons

Buying the bundle is even if you already own 1 of the games.

As a strange side note, if you install all three Zup games at the same time, the desktop icons spell out ZUP on your desktop. -_-

They do in you Steam library as well if you put them under the same category... or just search for ZUP. lol

As an achievement whore, yay for so many achievements and an easy 100%.
As a cheap bastard, I cannot justify buying this for just 15 minutes of gameplay.
As someone who doesn't have much interest in the icons for the achievements, I don't have the need to buy this game.
I'm very conflicted.

Well, I bought Murder during the sale and finished it in about 30 minutes... still enjoyed it despite it being so short (the fact that I only paid around 60 cents is one of the reasons why I wasn't pissed).

Yes, I completely understand that. Plus, the "it's just a dollar" justification is pretty valid here.
If people enjoy the game or get it for some other reason, power to you! Buy it!
I'm just trying really hard not to purchase anything anymore, because backlog.

I gave up on trying to fight my backlog around the same time when my account passed the 2k games mark, now I just keep feeding the monster hoping that it will eventually die from indigestion :P

I don't really care. Do find the ZUP games fun for what they are and for their price. Do agree the dev maybe went a little too far with all this achievements. But in the end everyone can get them if they want to. It's like you begin your Steam account with 2500 achievements instead of 0. It's a matter of choice. Buy and play if you want or don't. I don't feel disappointed or think Steam shouldn't release theses games. They are the minority and are entertaining, so I say go for it.

Agreed. I might feel differently if they were complete shovelware, but they're actually well thought out and fun little puzzle games that you can play in short doses between other games or when you only have a few minutes to play something.

I think achievements are never a bad thing. If you don't care about them, you simply ignore them, and lots of people like trying to get all (or some) of them

That's actually nice idea - allowing you to get tons of various letters in various colors, good for people who like to make their profiles pretty.

Maybe I finally will get my letter P I'm missing on my profile (too lazy to do it in Lyne, while I don't want to use SAM).

Achievements like these have nothing to do with achievement hunting, they're achievements for people who want to pretend they're achievement hunters. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's not my thing.

Oh yeah there is also a new game called Pain Train with "mere" 578 achievements http://store.steampowered.com/app/576560/
I guess this is it for achievement hunters, this stuff just doesn't have any bragging rights like it used to with games like these coming out.
Unless you are hardcore and just buy any game that has easy achievements, but thats just sad in my opinion.
