I did that in a car door once, chipped the bone, hurt like hell. Here's 2 things that will happen: blood will accumulate under the nail, the nail will split at the impact point and the top will come off but don't worry, it will grow back.

Does it look exactly normal? Mine became slight different, when you look closely under a light you can that the texture of a nail looks like striations, after mine grew back the top and bottom parts got slightly different striations.

So I just closed my finger in the window and it hurts like hell, my nail is gonna pop off for sure. I didn't even yell or scream I just growled really weirdly.I put a bandaid on it but it's still throbbing like HELL feel free to laugh at me below....
