I encounteres this the first time in Far Cry 3, I would randomly get stuck in one spot and can't move up or down for a while. At first I thought it was a glitch of the game but I got it again in Dishonored, and just now in RE7. Anyone know what this is? I use Windows 10 and play with keyboard if that helps.

You got a controller connect when that occurs? Try disconnecting it or push one of the direction sticks on it when it occurs.

No I didn't, at least I don't remember having any controller plugged in when this first occured.

Keyboard only, no mouse? Might be keyboard rollover. When you get stuck, what eventually clears it up?

Might also be a bad keyboard. Do you have another one you can test?

If you are playing with a mouse, what kind? A ball mouse might have a dying sensor. If it's an optical mouse, try changing the mouse pad you're using.

Mouse and keyboard, I have an optical mouse. This usually go away after I moved around for a few seconds, but came back later. With Dishonored it became much less frequent after I stopped playing for a few days. I don't have this problem with most games I used keyboard and mouse with, in fact I played the Gloomwood demo yesterday without any issues, so I don't know if it's the hardware.

Do you have another mouse you can try?

This power setting change might help: Search "Power options" with the Windows search tool on the left -> click on "Change plan settings" -> Click on "Change advanced power settings" -> Click/Expand on the USB option -> put "USB selective suspend setting" to "Disabled".

Have you tried updating drivers for your mouse, usb, and motherboard.

What model of mouse do you have? Some models are prone to this kind of issue.

Have you tried cleaning the sensor? Sometimes hair stuck in front of the lens or dirt on the lens will cause the sensor to to think it’s not tracking on a particular axis.

does this only happen while in game, or does your mouse also freeze up while web browsing or other things? also have you tried using a different mouse to see if it still messes up?

Only vertical move is impacted ? You don't see a general freeze when it happens ?
