Which do you prefer
To my understanding, it will work as easily as a wired 360 controller.

I used a DS3 and DS4 controller but it is such a hassle, because I need to install the driver first and let the driver program open.
In games setting use XBOX controller as reference too.
Now that I clean install my Windows 10, I want to use a XBOX One controller,
I hope it is really plug and play as they say.

As long as you have the motioninjoy drivers installed you don't have to use their program. I use a program called "InputMapper" for my DS4 and it works perfectly.

Yeah, and it is sweet. More ergonomic and has impulse triggers in some games.

As far as I know, they made sure Xbox One controllers are compatible with windows. I use a wireless 360 controller and it worked from the moment I plugged the wireless receiver in. It automatically installed the driver and everything.

i have windows 7 and had nothing to install, just plug & play

Thanks everyone for your input,
I think I made my mind and gonna buy XBOX One controller now.

It works; Major Nelson had a custom driver for it on his blog for a while, but they finally added it to windows update as a standard driver. It's completely plug and play.

Wireless makes a lot sense when sitting far away but i think if the person is going to be close to the computer wireless is not really needed and saves on messing about with the adapter and batteries.
Though wireless is still nice but the adapter is going to set you back way more then it needs to so if it was me i would just get the wired one
But yes a wired one will be plug and play and well the other reason for me not to go wireless for the xbox one is it only works on windows 10,which i guess is fine if that is all you use,but i still use Windows 7 for some gaming even know i have 10 so that is a deal breaker for me.

Don't you have to download and install something, for the Xbox One controller on PC?

It plug and play, you don't have to download anything just plug it on your PC. (Need Windows 10)

nice, btw. can you play wireless - or does it have to be "wire plugged to play"?
^ last time i checked, the info i got is, it doesn't work YET
without the cable which is ok but for a gamepad ...

ah ok thanks for the info ... thought there might be another way than that nasty adapter to play wireless

hmm kinda unwilling to spend monies on another gamepad & wireless adapter ... no rush anyway
the steam controller might prove to the best option in addition to w. 360-controllers

i should get the steam controller in october, but i am not sure how often i will use it. seems to me, it's not really a reasonable replacement for conventional controllers. more a special thing, which i will use only for a few special games (if any).

more a special thing - aye seems so, if it works about as precise/fast as with mouse it will be great for lots of games

i am still skeptical, but yeah, it would be great. i love playing on the couch with a controller, and if this thing enables me to do that with usually mouse-driven games - perfect. ^^

Hope you have fun with it! By the way, it has impulse triggers (triggers can vibrate completely on their own and recede before or after depending on the games).
Far Cry 4, Halo 2, and Watch_Dogs (when driving) use the feature, if you want to try it out (it is a very small feature though).
Oh, and in Windows 10 you can use the Guide Button to bring the Game Bar and record stuff.

Yeah quite satisfied with XBONE controller as all around PC gamepad, 9.5/10
if only the LB and RB button is soft, then it is easily 10/10

Same here, it is my only complain as well... Having to use the whole lenght of the index fingers to press them feels wrong.

Yes it works now, at launch it didn't work, Microsoft promised drivers for it in the future and those are out now. Run Windows Update after you've plugged it in and it will automatically update to the latest drivers. WIRELESS IS NOT SUPPORTED.

win 10 can work as xbox on so xbox 360 wired works fine
wireless shoud work too
Xbox one controler should work too if you have an adapter

Hi...
I want to buy XBOX One Controller for PC, but I don't want the hassle for setting up the controller,
Is Windows 10 install XBOX One controller automatically? (plug and play?)
I don't mind if I have to use the cable to connect to PC USB port as long as it plug and play,
So is XBOX One controller good for PC?
