Other than being a regular contributor to this site who writes interesting posts, there are two options to get on my whitelist, but I doubt they are applicable to you at this stage.
In any case, better avoid writing such posts, because some would consider them to be against site rules ("Do not beg..."). Personally, I don't mind :-)

Yes, that's how it usually works. Just keep in mind that being active (e.g. creating threads) brings both whitelists and blacklists, typically more of the former in my experience. You can check the stats page and see how the count in both lists increase over time. If you don't write anything and don't win "too much" you won't see much activity there, but if you chime into one of the threads about politics you'll see how both counters increase very rapidly. It's pretty amusing ;-)

Thanks for all the Cake Day greetings! I'm traveling, so won't have much time to respond (I'll be back in a few days). In the meanwhile, here's a short train that uses different types of GAs for each wagon. In places where you're more likely to be stuck, there's an option to skip a wagon.
This is the order of giveaways. The ones that aren't in bold can be skipped.
Invite Only → SGTools → Wishlist-based → Public group → Private groups → Jigidi puzzle (easy) → Whitelist → Itstoohard puzzle (easy) → ESGST-based → another SGTools → Discord linked → Public → Hidden → Bump :-)
I included notes with information about how to enter some of the less self-explanatory giveaways (e.g. SGTools, Private groups, Public group, Whitelist, ESGST, Discord, Hidden).
