it wouldn't really be getting it for free since the bundle required money. first they don't deliver all the story in the 5 chapters like they said, then they make a sixth one and say that it will automatically be included with old keys, and then change their mind and want to force people into buying it separately for its own price. can they be sued for this?

Technically, no, since Humble named that pack Chapter 1–5, which they did deliver. IIRC, that fifth chapter was added after the bundle too, so buyers did receive content that wasn't available at the time of purchase.
I had/have a conversation with the dev in that linked thread. They are covered, although I am not particularly fond of this either, but I guess I'll play along and buy the episode either way. I fear others may express a much… harsher opinion.

The second half of the Imoen Romance mod for Baldur's Gate 2. The initial version was released in late 2005, the final (and first fully public) version of the second half this January. I am still yet to play it because I now need some time plus mood to work up starting up BG2 again. I really played that game to death.

Somehow I ended up with the base game that comes with chapters 1&2 and then DLC for chapters 3&4, but I do not have chapter 5. Was there a bundle that only included chapters 1-4? I did not buy the DLC separately.

Yeah, I just checked my list of games and I specifically wrote down next to that game that I have chapters 1-4 and there should be a total of six, so it was probably in a bundle that said it would only include chapters 1-4.

I found it. It was Nov 20 2014, Humble Weekly Joystiq
https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/7Tu1G/humble-joystiq-weekly-bundle
There was also a previous bundle that only included 1-3.

Nothing new. Those sweet five dollars you can get from people that want to finish the story are just too tempting...

"If I bought the bundle back when there were only five chapters do I have to buy the last one separately?"
The dev talks about the "bundle" on the Steam page, which includes all chapters. NOT a Humble Bundle! So there's nothing new here! Seriously, people were hoping to get the full game for a buck? By the way, it's a great game, and the dev deserves our money :)

Unfortunately, he's not the only one, I've seen similar comments on the Steam news page about Chapter 6 release. The dev clearly doesn't deserve bad publicity from some who can't read properly.
talgaby, could you edit your OP so no more gets confused? Thanks :)

Some of you may remember that the claymation surrealistic point 'n' click adventure, The Dream Machine was featured roughly two years ago in the Humble Eye Candy 3 bundle. Back then, it only had five chapters, which were originally supposed to be the entire game, but since its story didn't fit into those, later the developer decided to add a sixth chapter. This sixth chapter was released this week, but as it turns out, even though the developer's FAQ said during the entire time that
…now the official word is that those who bought the Humble pack won't receive the final chapter. The FAQ was also changed in the past few hours to reflect this and clearing up that it only affected those who bought the Steam bundle.
So, I thought that there were more people like me, who wanted to play this game after all of it came out, and they really ought to know about this, before they also try to install and wonder where the heck the last episode even is. The episode is only 5 USD/EUR, but if you expected to get it for free, it may still come as a surprise.
