I see this topic, and the first comment for Spec Ops the Line!! I can't help but mention how great that game is. So much so that I had achieved every single achievement in the game after multiple playthroughs. It really raises questions and challenges your believes and there are less games around which can have such impact on your life.
My request to you, leave everything and immerse yourself in that world.

Honestly, Spec Ops: The Line is one of the best games you can play from the shooter genre. Hell, I don't think you can just count is as just "from the shooter genre." It's definitely a flawed masterpiece, but many lines are delivered crazy-crazy well. It would be nice to have a discussion, but there's a good amount of people who have yet to complete it, and I'd like more people to discover the challenges the game poses to their perceptions. It's one of those games you might admire so much, but you don't discuss it openly, because you want others to have their chance at admiring its design.

I've literally just finished Owlboy :) Despite a few minor flaws it was a good game. I was curious if I'll enjoy it and it turned out I've had a blast with this one. Aaand some frustration during a couple of levels and boss fights :D The characters were okay-ish but story was better than I expected with a few surprising plot twist along the way. The game itself also have some kind of charm that made me like it right away :)

Regarding holidays, I'm doing myself a Gamer's Christmas :) So I'm going to play as much as possible because I won't have time for this later. And generally I'm having very nice time so far ā€“ played some games, spent time with family, ate delicious food. It's being great! :)

Happy holidays!

Food and family always go good and woah frustration in a game ain't really my forte. Never actually got mad at a game, have a bit of the Bob Ross factor when playing games ya know happy accidents. I did witness all out rage where a friend of mine literally went ape-shit and decided to mine some bricks off the wall with his keyboard at a lan party.

And family wise we got some ups and downs with drama cause yeah big family and everything but stuff sorts out near the holidays cause of the food that my grandma prepares for the occasion. Overall loving it so far, haven't done too much gaming yet tough.

I finished Nier:Automata last week (which wasn't half bad) and finished up Robothorium (excellent Early Access robot themed dungeon crawler) last night, so I'm going to start Dead in Vinland later this evening.

My holiday plans are simple for the most part - tomorrow morning I'll go speak for a couple hours at the local drug/alcohol rehab clinic, then go drop off gifts for family and friends, and then I'll work tomorrow evening. I have Wednesday off, so all night Christmas into Wednesday I'll be gaming my butt off, as it should be. Merry Christmas.

Interesting plans, do you volunteer at drug/alcohol clinic or do you particularly work there? Haven't seen anyone do some good community work in the past few days everyone around me kinda minds their own business for most of the time rarely stopping at their own expense to help someone out for the holidays. Merry Christmas and good backlog clear :D

I don't work there. I was a patient there over a decade ago. I just try to pay it forward by going down there and speaking occasionally, particularly around the holidays. It's the least I can do after they (more or less) saved my life.

Once again, Merry Christmas, brother. Be safe and happy.

No family Christmas for me. Small family and I love abroad, so I'm spending a few days in Hong Kong. Just treated myself to in-flight Wi-Fi as a Christmas present!

Short trip, then I plan to spend a week exercising and playing games. Didn't buy much all year, then went on a little spree in the last month or so. I've been playing Watchdogs 2 (jumped on the amazon price error), Hollow Knight, Owlboy and Wasteland 2 recently.

Got a backlog (who doesn't!) and didn't make much of a dent in 2018, so hoping I can do better in 2019.

I've been playing some UNO with some friends recently. I've got a large backlog, still have yet to finish spec ops- the line, and some other cool games.

Also, another game I have played recently (for a third time) is subnautica. Truly a fantastic experience and it is filled with wonder and a 'just get this one thing done, then hop off' feel. I recommend playing it if you haven't already. (You can grab it free on epic games at the moment i believe, not sure though since I bought it on steam when it first launched).

While on holidays I just like to chill, then attempt making actual full songs for once, then just play games after that.

Have a happy (and safe) holidays!

Oh you a song writer or a studio artist? Yeah gonna stick with steam I kinda got that monolith consumerism ethic burrowed in my head. Payed ABZU so my underwater needs are full for now (calming, relaxing, atmospheric, exploration type of game, still very good) and some free time will come my way so i can spend it while playing games and chilling with some family along the way.

Have been devoting so much of my gameplay into Killing Floor 2. Until around 300 hours it was such a good game, but changed to a kind of obligatory course when I was around 400 hours. Being able to get skins or unlockable items through playing the game made me stick to this game... Now I've spent 550 hours and I'm thinking of leaving it behind a while later, because the presence of this game in my SSD blocks me from playing other games.
I'm thinking of playing Bioshock 2 and Portal 2.

Until fairly recently I was wasting a lot of time on Kerbal Space Program and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Of the two can only recommend Kerbal Space Program. Now I'm playing an oldie, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Also doing some logic puzzles.

For Christmas I will be going over to my mother's. We'll eat, exchange gifts, and watch some crappy movies. The meal won't be anything fancy. I'm bring hummus. Some other family is supposed to stop by.

I was about to finish Mad Max, but I really struggle because the game is repetitive with a very very limited variety of activities. I remember when I started the game and was so excited the map the very first time, because it seemed so huge. Now I wish it would have been half the size.
That I rejoined Path of Exile for the Betrayal league also didn't help in my motivation to finish Mad Max. ;D

TOP 5 among all I played this year :
ā‘ A Hat In Time
Can't deacribe how I feel when getting into this curious little world,This game reminds me of Nintendo games, just simple fun and joy,It feels like traveling back to my childhoodā™Ŗ(^āˆ‡^*)
ā‘”Tametsi
A minesweeping puzzle game, but really a hidden gem for me!
ā‘¢The Witness
Maybe the Best in-game learning curve I've ever seen
ā‘£The Red String Club
Another surprise for me,I bought it just due to the beautiful cyberpunk pixelart, but it came out much more than I'd expected.
ā‘¤Gujian3
I enjoy it from the bottom of my heart, but this one is related to our own culture,so I won't recommend.Just mention it and skip to substitute.
ā‘„Final Fantasy XIV
It's a MMORPG,just like other competing games,I make friends and spend time now and then, the game tells a beautiful world and the adventure of hero with awesome music, especially the theme怊Dragonsong怋

But I also converted my ladyfriend so there's plenty of co-op-ing (she's terribly competitive so I try never to play vs. games with her lol) and now little ones old enough to play with, it's a blast (though I have been told I was a corrupting influence, which is bonus in my view :P)

Hey, happy cake day and happy holidays!

Some great games I played this year include Saints Row 3 & 4, Bayonetta (still great), Forza Horizon 3 (awesome!), and I'm finishing up Final Fantasy XIII-2 which was a lot of fun.

The top of my backlog are gifts from SG and friends: Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Battle Chasers: Nightwar, and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, and I am super excited to play them all.

What about you, what were your favorite games, and which ones are you looking forward to playing? Anyway, thanks for the cocoa. :)

Wanted to go back to some of the good old days for a bit and downloaded Burnout Paradise, L.A Noire (played but never finished) and The Binding of Isac, should be able to get at em after new years cause family started getting together again after 2-3 years of petty drama. This year I was busy with work most of the time so only had time to play and enjoy a hand full of games other than the ones I play with friends.
God of War was by far the best from the console ones I played and I quite liked Return of the Obra Dinn from the ones I played on PC.
Here have some marshmallows.

I loved Burnout Paradise. Forza Horizon 3 scratched the same itch for me, and I actually enjoyed it even more. I haven't played LA Noire yet, it's in the backlog for a rainy (free time) day.

I'm glad to hear that God of War was awesome. I got God of War for dirt cheap over BF, so that's something to look forward to. But first I have some SG wins to play through.

And I'm glad to hear that your family is getting together again. I swear, family is the cause of 99% of the drama and stress in my life.

The only modern games that my PC can run is GTA5 and Mad Max which runs like crap but the GTA 5 runs fine on low-mid setting and i didn't finished Mad Max because how repetitive the game is. Im curently playing AC Revelation and Grid (2008). Im planning to buy Mass Effect or Dishonored on this steam winter sale but i can't decide which one should i buy because i have a limited budget.
Last week in my grandma's house im playing some psp games like Metal Gear Peace Walker, Midnight Club L.A., GTA Vice City Stories.
That's all, Wish you a good holiday :)

My backlog is horrendous. I got a few reviews done this month since I've been curating a game or two here and there. I think I got four or five reviews up this week though. I'm away from my immediate family for a few years now, living with my girlfriend. I don't like this area a whole lot, especially during Christmas, since I'm not flying to see my family. Maybe there will be a good spot, but too many doctors, herbals/medications, etc. to have to juggle around right now.

I've been playing a lot of lewd games - that's what most of my focus is on as of late. I'm in a group that plays wins each month, so I'll get a few of those finished probably (Play or Pay SG). Well... that's about it I think. Just random odds and ends lately, and a whole lot of half-finished games. I'm not sure what I'll be working on after these next few reviews are up, but I am not happy during the holidays overmuch. I always miss my immediate family. Going alright this month otherwise. My health probs haven't been quite as bad. Have a nice holiday time!

I like how you are open about your health problems, personally I'm very selective usually only closer friends and family know but otherwise people around me are clueless not sure why i got some type of trust issues burrowed in my brain that makes me uncomfortable when I talk about it to a person I don't feel too close to. Backlog is just a mess at this point not sure how much time i have to clear it after new years cause my family is getting together again since all the beef that started a while a go seems to have cleared up. Wanted to play Burnout Paradise, L.A Noire (played but never finished) and The Binding of Isac but depends honestly since it's gonna be a lot of home time with family might resort to something I can play split screen or local co-op. New years is gonna play out regularly my place, girlfriend, games, maybe some cringe Christmas movies and some cooking.

Happy Cake Day! And also Happy Holidays!

I played Burnout Paradise, and wished it were more out of control like the older games in the series were. It is still a rather fun game! Some of the little side-games can get annoying though. I also played a bit of Binding of Isaac - I finished the earlier bits, and I think unlocked all characters? Not sure - it's been a good while since I played it, but it certainly has its charm. Good game! I should check out L.A. Noire since I have it... stashed away with a dlc bundle attached to it as well. Not sure what's in this dlc bundle, but looks like a game I'd enjoy playing. :D

There's just... too much! And... I'm horribly indecisive, especially when it seems I have too much and it's overwhelming! I created my own monster of sorts. Hah! Thanks for the reply, and take care! :3
