Yes, the poll has a purpose =P

As for Digital Homicide, eh.. I stopped caring a while ago. It's not like they'll ever make something good.

But its from within SG, since giving away rocket league copies obviously affects the steam greenlight process, couldn't their developer privilege be revoked, this way that site wouldn't be such a great way for the developer to release a game every month

Ah, I see what you mean now. I don't really check their giveaways because I don't want that crap in my library, but yeah.. I think that's kinda in the grey area of this rule

You cannot ask users to perform any special action in order for their entry to be considered valid, such as liking a Facebook page, or following a Twitter account.

I don't think they'll get in trouble though.

I'm not fine with this. Why you ask? Because they are briding the wrong people! They should bride us, customers! We are the ones who will buy their game therefore we deserve part of the share!

I'm not ok with everything DigitalHomicide does.
Ok there is one exception...I would be ok if they stop making shit.

Also I would be happy if DigitalHomicide could blacklist me on SG so that I can never join one of their GAs by mistake.

I'm not that happy but... even if their games gets on steam...
who will pay ?

Except a few weirdo like me who hosts giveaways for bad rats & co, I don't think they'll do big moneyz, am I right ?

I'm pretty sure there'll be idiots who get the games for the cards. And I'm assuming that's where the real revenue is in this case.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

tbh if the cards' value > the game's costs I usually buy it :V
But I still don't think they gain a lot

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

^ he is right you know, as long as it's on steam some idiot will buy it, in this case that idiot is me.
The problem here isn't the money, i just think SG is making things to easy for these fellows.
Going through GL and seeing all this fake comments also bothers hell out of me

Frankly, I see no harm in this. This doesn't guarantee everyone who voted a free game, it's basically like a raffle of sorts.
Some other Greenlight devs downright say that everyone who votes will get a key, and that's an entirelly different thing...

The difference is that no one will win a shit in that case :V

It's worse, because they bribe without even paying.

Hmm, maybe they weren't trying to bribe anyone? Maybe it was meant just for those who voted for the game because they were genuinely interested.
I'm not entirely familiar with this developer's practises, but it might the possibility ;)

Deleting negative reviews? Check
Faking positive reviews? Check
Banning people on forums for negative comments? Check
Banning people on forums for thanking them for a free copy? Check
Copyright claiming a video review to get it muted? Check
Putting their own audio over that video to make fun of the person who reviewed it? Check
Changing their studio name on each game so only one game shows up when you search? Check
So bad at making games that allshamnowow made a video of not one, but TWO of their games? Check

If the raffle was for the greenlight game it might make more sense as you said, but the game they're giving away is not the one they're leaving the comment for.

Oh, if only this was the case.
But even if they were a brand new thing, what they do now, is the typical facebook likehunting shenanigan. It used to not be against any ToS, and it is not against any laws, but it is highly unethical, even for a marketing person.
(Okay, who am I kidding, marketing people don't even know what ethics are, but I think you get what I try to say. ^^)

Comment has been collapsed.

yup, thats why i wanted to know everyone's opinions
For me, this an absolutely horrendous practice, even in this case with small odds, not only are you destroying the idea of greenlight with fake positive comments, their also writing even more just to win the much better game, and the only one they are interested in.
And frankly, making theses guys work a little more on their games before releasing wouldn't be a bad idea either

On a side note, I was the 100th 'no' vote. When it went to the results, I thought it said 100% no. I was disappointed that it wasn't unanimous. Then I was found out who it was, and was disgusted when I found out that people were saying yes to digital homicide.

Whilst Digital Homicide might be a reet bunch of nob jockeys there have been numerous devs who have given away a variety of other studios games to promote their green light titles. Does t matter how they go about it, the end result is the same and this is no different.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Except it is different.
There is a difference between 'hey, have some giveaway of Rocket League. Meanwhile, be so kind to check out our greenlight page and vote yes' and 'whoever writes the nicest comment about our game on GL page, wins a copy of Rocket League'.

your missing the Deadly Premonition song, dont worry though i will whistle
anyway, it was a problem before since unlike most devs here, they are always pushing dirty tactics to get their games through greenlight
but now, alluring people to write comments and vote for the possibility of winning an actual good game, such is the case of rocket league that does not even belong to them. Well...nevermind creating games anymore, with this tactics the game would be greenlit even if it was a still picture
I guess ill just have to prepare myself for a new DH game every week

You know bout the UnitZ Thing and steam right ?

Its a Unity asset , that people buy , and try and push it trough green light as a legit game ...

. if the game is building a bad reputation be sure to take it down and upload it again, as many times as necessary.

So dont worry it will be back

EDIT: Not wanting to called them idiots but, did they really expect good comments for a game called Temper Tantrum 2?
