Hello. I bought South Park The Fractured But Whole last year, expecting to play the game near the end of the last year. Still, they keep changing the release date and I'm really clueless about what to expect. The thing that troubles me is that they're totally silent about this. I only know that they now expect to release the game in the 2018 fiscal year (which, I think, means someday from April 2017 to March 2018). I know that you can't possibly know, but what do you believe will happen? Another delay? Is Ubisoft even trustable anymore? For the people that pre-ordered the game, they're only giving a shitty digital towel thing, so it's not worth it. And I know that I shouldn't pre-order games, but I really liked the first game, even though I dislike the tv series. It's just that this situation really worries me, because this game costs a lot of money and 2018 already seems too late. I repeat that I already know I shouldn't pre-order games, so no need to tell me that again, but still, I just want your opinion about its release date. Worthless post, but yeah, I just wanted to rant.

EDIT: They released a new trailer and announced that the release date is 17/10/2017.

Do you intend to buy the game South Park The Fractured But Whole?

No!
Already bought it!
I will check it out after it gets released and then I will decide!

I'm sure it will be released eventually, and then you can play it. Hopefully, all this time they've taken will mean they have ironed out all the kinks and the end product will be of great quality. :) Haha... One can hope. But yeah, I mean, just another reason not to buy games before they're even released.

I guess, if you preordered the game, patience is not one of your strengths, so perhaps try to see this as poetic justice / punishment-fits-the-crime kind of torture that will help you develop your patience?

Just stay alive until the game is released. Lots you can do in the meantime and nothing you can do to speed up release. The main thing is that you'll get to experience it in your lifetime -- what does it matter exactly when?

But they've delayed it so many times. Like, how many bugs did it have? More than the ones in the Amazon forest? xD Their words hold no weight anymore. When you buy something, you expect a professional attitude from the seller. This just looks like I bought a game from a kid. If you don't know when you'll able to release the product, then don't announce a release date yet. You can't just change the release date all the time and don't even announce anything about it. I seriously think that their company consists of kids.

That's true, I haven't really heard of this happening for other games. It had seemed like I had been hearing about this game for a long time without it actually coming out. Puzzling as to why they keep delaying it.

Well, I also don't like the tv series. And yeah, I know I shouldn't pre-order, as I said, but I don't know why they keep delaying it for so long. :/

That's why you don't pre-order. Anything. Ever. And yes I read that you said that you already know you shouldn't pre-order.

Seriously though, pre-ordering gives companies time to release games when they feel they are ready. For better or for worse. The only problem with it is that you are actually giving them a loan on something that you have never seen even less played. Same with season passes. I'm still at a loss why people think it's a good idea to give any publisher money way before the game is released without seeing anything about the actual game.

That being said I really like The Stick Of Truth and will most likely buy The Fractured But Whole once it's out (and gets a few percent off).

I can 100% agree about the season passes. But I have pre-ordered other games, like The Witcher 3 and, despite its delays, I was so amazed by this game. I have pre-ordered many other games and, despite their first day bugs, I didn't even complain that much. But why do they keep delaying The Fractured But Whole so much? Was it utterly broken? o.O

I have no idea why they delay it so much, but it's nothing new and it will happen with many more games to come. Maybe you can explain to me why you pre-order a game if you can't play it yet. Is it because you fear that if you don't pre-order the game won't be made?

It's because I would buy the game anyway, so I don't care if I pre-order it or not. Why would I fear that? Do you think I want to fund them? I couldn't care less about the company. I liked the first game, I am sure I'm gonna like the 2nd game too (I watched some gameplay videos about it), so I pre-ordered the 2nd game too, since, as I said, I was gonna buy it either way at some point.

But you could other things with your money and you won't be frustrated if a game you already paid for is being delayed (several times). Doesn't seem like you are getting anything out of paying way too early. Just my two cent about it.

But I would buy it anyway at some point. What's the difference? The less frustration? Well, only this game frustrated me so far and I didn't expect that. :/ And the pre-order bonus is a digital towel - yes, a f@cking towel! So shitty! xD I always have an extremely small wishlist and I had no other wishlisted games to buy at that time, since I had bought almost all of them. The only other wishlisted game I could have bought at that time was Hitman, since it was the only one that had a price tag, but some reviews about it made me rethink about it.

You don't get my point, but that's fine. Enjoy your digital towel once the game comes out and don't fart on anybody's balls ;)

Nobody really knows what's causing the delay.
Maybe Matt & Trey are not satisfied with the game.
Maybe something happened with the developers.
Maybe it's Ubisoft. Nobody know =/

The game is not made by the same guys so i'm 50/50 on this game. I did like the previous ones but i have a feeling this will be worse.. Might still be good tho but there is no hype from me.

Maybe I should have written it for a 3rd time that I already know I shouldn't preorder. :P I still pre-order games because, even though some of them have bugs, they are still good games, since I only pre-order games that I know I'm gonna like.

They did the same last time around, shuffling a lot. So yeah, pre-ordering based on past experiences should have told you this.

Since it's not Obsidian this time, I have less faith anyway, and will wait for a hefty discount (or Humble Monthly entry, whatever comes first).

Still, with all the pre-ordered games I've bought, I was content. I only pre-order games I'm sure I'm gonna like and I would buy anyway. The problem is that they're silent about this game and I'm wondering how much broken could it be to take all this time?!

They did the same first game, rewritting stuff, re-doing.
If you end up still liking it, you probably should be good to go for this game.

Still, I wouldn't risk it myself.

So that's why I haven't run into any spoilers of the game! That's a big shame it got delayed yet again (though it's good for my wallet) and I gotta wonder what the hold up was this time. I'm sort of hoping it would be about them trying to fight Ubisoft into making it DRM free like the predecessor but I know that's a fool's wish.

Do you intend to buy the game South Park The Fractured But Whole?

Yes, because this setting is what I wished the first game had used. I know it isn't by the same people, but I'm still willing to hold out hope since the setting is preferable to me. However I will not pay full price for it, nuh-uh.

I repeat that I already know I shouldn't pre-order games, so no need to tell me that again

Not sure if you knew this, Lucky, but don't pre-order! ;D

Pre-order doesn't mean shit
I bought it in mid of last year and still waiting each day to try it, i know delay is bad but with my favorite show, it's worth it
A better delayed game than a trask fast released one.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about Ubisoft, but other recently games made by them not that bad, let's see which: Wildlands, Steep, WD2, FC Primal, Rainbow Six Siege. The top reason they keep complaining is just because it requires 3rd- party account uplay, not its quality. After all i can't refund it so just let it be ;p

Right before the first game came out, Cartman specifically told people not to pre-order games! :D

But also, I trust Matt and Trey to release something they're proud of. If I remember right, they were actually late shipping an episode for the first time this past season though. So they're probably working too hard on both projects (game and show).

Ubisoft probably talked them into the pre-order bonus. And are probably super impatient to get the game released. But I'm happy with it being done only when Matt and Trey are okay with it being done. Also, the first game had a ton of delays too. But it was worth waiting for. The guys probably fell into the game development trap of thinking a sequel would be easier since most of the work would already be done from the first game, but that is rarely true.

Just hang in there, and stop pre-ordering games.

Happy cake day. That's not its release date. When steam doesn't know a game's release date, it just sets it for the end of the year.

Hey if I did pre-order it, I would wait until a couple days are left for the game to actually be out, just in case anything like this happens.
I wouldn't know what is causing the delay, we can only speculate.

It's not being made by Obsidian so it might be buggy or bad...
But, Ubi has been doing okay (not perfect but okay) with their recent releases ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe they've learnt their lesson & are making sure the game is as good as possible before releasing it? wishful thinking

It's a very very probably yes, even if it's bad (just to play through the story). Though if it's really bad I may just watch someone else play, hah.

Either way it surely won't be at full price, especially since I haven't gone back to finish Stick of Truth yet, despite enjoying it.

Probably something to do with the story, I mean they had to rewrite an episode of South Park because Trump won instead of Clinton, so I mean it's probably something along those lines. Who knows though. Whatever the game is there when it comes out I'll play it, until then I have my slate full with games for the rest of the year. Probably won't preorder next time if there is a third game.
