Also know about that, but I'm pretty sure there's a thread about it already up.

oh sopa, when will they realize it is a terrible idea?

I'm sure congressmen know it's a horrible idea, but they don't care. They don't care if it will sap all life and personality out of the internet, and turn it into a funless filing cabinet that you'd find in a paper-pushing office. All they care about is money and that companies and big buisnesses will supposively get more money. It's one-sided cooperate greed. That's all it is.

I just cant wait to see the look on the MPAA and RIAA's faces when they realize sales are still not going up much because well...people don't have money to buy tons of music/movies and other various luxury items. Lets see how many people fill up a 120gb ipod with legal content, oh boy.
I am not promoting piracy, I just dont know a single person who can afford to fill up a ipod that big without resorting to piracy...

They are, basically, the same thing. Ireland is actually signing ACTA aswell.

It turns Internet Operators into a copyright infringement police, and it gives permission for your ISP to monitor you and what you do on the internet.
It's like, if not worse than, SOPA.

ACTA is signed? Then . . . what's going to happen to us?
I looked it up. Wikipedia goes into too much detail and legal terms that I don't understand, and the StopActa website doesn't really come out to say the purpose of the bill. In simple terms, what does it do?

Unfortunately, most of the draftees have just signed it. Damn it, EU, I trust you to show sense for once and you go and fuck up again...

Because the first link is Ireland's version of SOPA. As far as I can see on the site, there's no mention of ACTA.

The US signed ACTA a long time ago, they've been the primary force behind pushing to keep the negotiations secret.

wow SOPA, it just never dies.
Let Anonymous do the job.

Everyone was so focused on SOPA, but everyone I came across didn't take the time to say a word about PIPA. I still need to google that. I'm quite late since it's done and over with, but I'm still curious. Bit of a shame, really, but I was far too busy with homework and the like to sign any petitions for SOPA or do anything to help the cause even though I was deeply distressed about the whole ordeal.

PIPA's just a less extreme version of SOPA. I think they were hoping that, if SOPA didn't go through, people would say "Oh, look at this bill! PIPA? It does what SOPA was trying to do, but isn't as crazy! Passed!" Note: as crazy. It's still ridiculous.

FFS... politicians, please stop snorting whatever drugs you are on if you wish to remain in office next term.
Edit: In case there isn't an ACTA thread like I think I saw a while back, screw that as well.
