HEY! Outlaws is absolutely a classic. My friend had it when it just came out and i borrowed it. Still remember those cool cutscenes and the damn water level. Don't you dare say it's best left forgotten.

Haha, yeah I will admit that I replayed the game about 10 years later, and the nostalgia goggles took a hit. It's still a fun game, but those graphics... didn't even realise at the time it was sprite based, but things progressed pretty quickly from that point in history to fully 3d character models, and the weird 8 direction enemy movement looks funny nowadays. There was only 5 years between this and another favourite of mine, No one lives forever 2, and that game still looks fine. Outlaws... not so much. Sprite based characters just don't age well in a shooter game.
Sam and max on the other hand... stone cold classic. I wonder if double fine will ever remaster it.

Graphics improved by leaps and bounds since the days of Pong. I've found that the more cartoonish graphics have aged a lot better, and the games that pushed against the limits look terrible.

Yeah exactly. PS1 era 3d graphics in 'serious' games look awful. But nintendo 64 games from the same period fared a bit better, with their more stylised look. And the lucasarts point and clicks with their cartoon style still seem fine, especially as a lot of indie games look worse graphically.

even going back further, Super Mario and Zelda with their bright and solid hues are still beautiful to look at, but Metroid may as well have come out on Atari

There are actually people who thought Escape was good?
The more you know I suppose.

Well... good is a very strong word. Playing Pong with Murray's head was fun though.

And I was kind of proud to figure out Monkey combat all on my own and mapping all the transitions from one pose to another on paper :D

I've never played it. I'm far more excited about Sam & Max

I liked it enough. Definitely not as much as Secret, but I wouldn't call it a bad game.

Yep, instantly wishlisted! And then just today was gifted it :)

I grabbed the Telltale Sam & Max games a while back since I always wanted to play the series, but held off actually playing because I kept waiting for the original to appear on Steam. No more waiting around, downloading now :)

Meanwhile, Tales of Monkey Island was pulled because of Telltale. I don't know if it's any good, as I haven't played it yet, but I'll still feel like it's missing.

It's not as good, it were definitely one of the better telltale games though, the same with the first two seasons of sam and max.
It will be a miss.

Oh, that's a shame.
Good thing I got that, Back to the Future and Jurassic Park on PSN already. That Humble Bundle earlier this year was pretty useful too, but it should've included the Strong Bad game.
Luckily, the Sam & Max games haven't been delisted yet. Hope they don't do it anytime soon.
