Nah, I have my gaming rig that I bought December last year. But that desk is flooded with paperwork which I didn't want to share with the world. 😉
But besides strategy games that require a high resolution and demanding AAA games, I actually play on my Deck most of the time.

Yeah, uhm, took me a week, but here we go! I actually do not have a fixed spot for gaming. That's me on the kitchen table. I might as well have taken a shot with the laptop in my bed, on the couch, on my desk, in the garden... I love my gaming all over the place :)
Edit: Aaaand it comes with a cat next to it ... of course ;)

Thanks for creating the topic, can't wait to see some setups from different users.
AmanoTC, that's a lot of storage. How many TB do you have sitting there and is it primarily for your Steam library? How's the Synology NAS?
Comment has been collapsed.
Hi CG, you're welcome :)
The NAS on the pic (Synology DS220J) is the Data-NAS which runs as a RAID and a) backups and b) syncs the laptop of my wife and my own PC. I like Synologys DSM and after I spent some time setting up the Drive Client for syncing in the last year (and made a lot of "Trial and Error"-mistakes in the process), everything works perfect.
Ah, yeah, storage... That's a complicated matter :D I used to have only two HDDs, all well partitioned for different things. But since I had my fair share of sudden HDD deaths in my decades of PC usage (hence the Data-NAS, bought after the sudden death of my gaming HDD one year ago), I moved away from that. Nowadays, I have a single HDD for every different topic.
The four USB-drives are used as such (starting from the left):
Within the PC there is a 256GB SSD running Win10, a 2TB HDD for all installed software (1TB would have been enough) and a 6TB 7200rpm HDD for my games.
So, yeah, as I said: Me and storage, that's a complicated issue :D All in all, including the two NASes, that's 38,25 TB of storage.

What software are you using for your media server? I setup a Raspberry Pi the other week as a Jellyfin server for streaming media to devices and it works well. The only issue is that it struggles when it comes to transcoding video not supported by a client.
Comment has been collapsed.
For music, I installed Synologys native software called "Media Server" on the NAS. Then I am running the VLC App on a Fire TV Cube and stream the music from the NAS to VLC.
For movies, Synology has a native software called "Video Station" that is running directly on the NAS and has an App, also running on the Fire TV Cube.
I considered using Plex or Kodi, but Video Station does everything I want so I'm using this instead (and it was easy to setup).
A Raspberry Pi is great as a dedicated living room PC and has many advantages, especially for streaming games in native quality to a TV, so kudos to that :)
Edit: Added link to Video station software.

Hmmm, why not.
My main computer is a Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 15ACH6. It was one of the better deals I could find, and now I understand why. The CPU fan is grinding against something, but the temps aren't affected by the looks of it. To make the noise not be as bad, I propped up the laptop on a Xbox One Bluetooth dongle and a old 4GB flash drive. Some would say it's because I don't take care of my stuff, but other people have had issues with other models since 2018-2019, even on non-gaming machines. It works so I'll stick with it, despite the issues I probably wouldn't upgrade for the 5ish years.
I'm looking to perhaps upgrade it sometime in 2023 with 16GB of RAM as the IGPU already eats up 512MB of it (lowest I can set it in the BIOS). I managed to get access to the advanced BIOS yesterday (more like the debug BIOS), where I found options related to overclocking, TPM 2.0 toggle and many more things that aren't available in the normal consumer BIOS, but the main focus is the IGPU settings. In one of the menus, I can tell it to use as low as 64MB of ram or disable it entirely. Well I tried both of there options with no success, and it turns out it doesn't actually save it, so that's as far as that went.
As current specifications, it's rocking the following:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H
RAM: 8GB 3200MHZ
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1650 GDDR6
SSD: 512 WD SN530 M.2 (with no cache I think?)
Network card: Realtek RTL8852AE. Why am I mentioning this one? Because it's absolute e-waste. Lenovo poorly optimized the drivers for it so currently I'm using HP drivers for it, and it's signal reception is really poor, so poor that sometimes I lose connection even when I'm next to the router. The ping in games is unacceptable, with variable ping spikes which sometimes can determine the outcome of a game/round.
As peripherals, I have the following:
Mouse: Razer Deathadder Essential
Keyboard: Razer Cynosa Lite
Headphones: HyperX Cloud II, in pink as it was the cheapest for some reason, black was almost 20$ more
Controller: Xbox One controller, with stick drift sadly.
On the right side of the picture, some may notice a printer, which is broken. Well it's not fully broken, it still powers on but has no ink, but in reality it just dried up in the cartridges. The drivers are a pain in the ass to get working under modern versions of Windows, even with forced compatibility. I just use it to put stuff on top, it's a big ass paperweight too.
I'm happy of what I currently have in terms of this department, besides the fan of course, this was just my lesson to never ever buy Lenovo again. I only went with them due to having good experience with their products (a Thinkpad and a Ideapad from 2015).
The second machine is my file server, with 450gb of usable space. I use it to store generally other files, not games as they take quite long to install, letalone verify. It's also the 2015 Ideapad I mentioned above.
As specifications, it has the following:
CPU: Intel Pentium N3540
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000
RAM: 4GB, 2133MHZ
HDD: 512GB WD Blue (I think?)
This was my old laptop and it's seen some good use, with the M key being ripped off entirely (including the membrane) so I just used the ghetto solution, tape it down, yes, it still works. The control key is coming off, and the shift key is quite lose. The laptop also has ACPI (power management to make it understandable). When unplugged it usually freezes, most likely due to it being plugged in almost it's entire life.
I upgraded it from Windows 10 to 11 yesterday, as Windows 10 refused to update no matter what I tried, meaning it would've been stuck on 20H1 if I didn't upgrade it. Funnily enough, it does run faster than the Windows 10 copy, I did have to debloat it though. The machine originally shipped with Windows 7, but I upgraded it once the motherboard quit working sometime in 2017.
My most memorable memory on this laptop is most likely beating COD Black Ops 2 in 10-15FPS, it sure was a blast. I used it till around last year, when it was just too slow for what I wished to do, aka modern gaming. I hope I'm able to extend it's lifespan longer by making it a file server.
This is all that I can say about my setup, I'd call it slightly above average because I also have that second machine working for me, I've also attached pictures below including my main setup and the second laptop.

Hi Pete. It doesn't have to be exciting to be interesting ;)
What are those round ball thingies behind the monitors? Loudspeakers?
Does your wife play (many) MMORPGs considering the mouse?
And has your wife enough place for her legs and feet considering the huge square case under the desk? oO
Edit: Oh, and is that a cat basket I see in the lower right corner? :)

Mine is also unusually small, which doesn't help :3
We're still talking about PC cases, aren't we? Just checking... :D
We don't actually play any MMOs though, but I'd love to get us into one
Might surprise a lot of people, but World of Warcraft is still great for couples and/or beginners. Or, if you can deal with some unpolished things, I'd advise Lord of the Rings Online, especially if you're into the lore.
to raise a cat bed up so that he feels part of our gaming time
Now THAT'S how cat parents subjects should be! So wholesome :)

Uuuuh, I especially like your desk! I love the brackets for the headset and the gamepad. Those are missing on my desk. Maybe I have to add them on sometime in the future because they make everything so tidy.
Is the left side of your case open or behind a glass plate?
And what's that on the top left? A console?
Comment has been collapsed.
Thank you! You should get them. They keep everything organized and easy to reach. It is an open case. On the top left is a liquid cooling for the laptop.

Well....I have an external SSD inside the case. It is just easier for me to remove it w/o the side panel haha

I like that desktop stand under your PC tower, looks like it would help prevent dust buildup. I didn't know those even existed until now, but I think I'll have to get one now. :)

Ask for disappointment and you shall receive. XD
If I recall correctly someone did ask for this before... I mean, that's the only way I'd have an old picture of "my setup" from ~10 years ago (first pic). Here's a new one from a few minutes ago (second pic). :D
Yeah... nothing has changed. Same laptop (it's a real survivor, no clue what I'll do when it dies eventually...). Same joystick that I've never used in the background. Computer in the back (which I also never used, it's weaker than the laptop) went to become the "printer computer" after the old one completely broke down. (The old one had Windows 98. That's how old it was. ^_^' ) I thought maybe I could use all that free space to the left to try to learn drawing... but that never happened... My nephew put that small random sticker on the desk drawer back when he was very little. I stopped using headphones at some point because they're really uncomfortable. >.<
And... that's it. Yeah, my "battle station" is more of a tiny wooden boat with a radio. XD
Comment has been collapsed.
Fascinating how time nearly stands still in your room :D In all seriousness, it is so great that you still have a picture of your setup from ten years ago. Thanks for sharing!
joystick that I've never used in the background
It looks like it didn't even move one inch in the last ten years. Did you clean around it without touching it? :D
Comment has been collapsed.
(To be fair, time's basically been standing still for me for the last 5 years too...)
I think the last time I moved that joystick was when I used it as a "4-th player" for an achievement in Jamestown. According to Steam that was in March 2012 so it not moving predates the laptop by a few months. XD
If I looked under it I'd probably find a small circle of desk which is much "fresher" than the rest of the desk... but to check I'd have to move the joystick and I don't wanna. ^_^'
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe I am overreacting and seeing things that aren't there, but just in case...
Well, with this, your joystick will survive the test of time and will be a fossil to be dug out by whatever comes after us ^^

Processor is Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.30 GHz supposedly).
Graphics Card is GeForce GTX 660M (2 GB GDDR5).
16 GB RAM (which was considered excessive back then but good thing I went for it coz otherwise I wouldn't have been able to run Just Cause 3 because it leaks RAM like crazy ^_^' ).
Yeah, in practice I don't really know what the CPU or GPU stats really mean other than they're old and 2 GB VRAM is friggin' nothing. Most games nowadays don't even consider listing a graphics card that old in their Minimum System Requirements since I guess it just isn't considered as existing anymore. (And if they do, it's always the regular 660 rather than the laptop 660M. That's always a bit of a "uuugh" in my "Can I run this?" calculations because the 660M is supposed to be weaker.)
Comment has been collapsed.
I mean, shouldn't be that bad, I had i5-2400 with 16GB ram and gtx950 2gb until late 2020, and in 768p and 1080p was surprisingly decent.
I bet even with 660m you can still play a lot of older (2012-2014) and 2D games in 1366x768 or 1024x768 screen resolutions and medium details. Might sound like not much, but that's the time some of the best games came out.
Back in the day when I only had old P2/64MB when everyone else is running Barthon and PentiumD, I'd play heroes III and Civ III for months and months... Those were fun times.
I assume you've played everything listed on NotebookCheck that shows working ok?
Comment has been collapsed.
Sure, my laptop can run games that came out shortly after it came out. ;P
But, well, newer games exist now too. And while I have absolutely zero interest in quite a lot of them (cough particularly the so called """"AAA""" games by certain corporations cough), there are outliers which actually look fun and stuff. And we are on a site where people do make giveaways for those fun-looking games. So, yeah, I end up with a lot of situations where I have to stress out over if a game that looks "too shiny" is optimized enough to not attempt to melt my laptop into slag. ^_^'
I have had enough instances of games running poorly (or being outright unplayable) to worry a lot about hardware nowadays. T.T
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah it's sad. But you shouldn't stress about it that much man. If you have the intention to play the game, and only later you find out it runs poorly... you can always play it in the future when you have a newer computer. There's no rule that says it has to be right now.

How many times did you hit your hand while playing, either because the space for the mouse wasn't enough or your fingers slipped from the keyboard? I sat on a desk quite like yours for a few months, so I feel you.
What's the brownish thingie to the left of the gamepad?
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't hit my hand not even once, actually I designed this desk, raported to my PC and needs ( since I stay in a rented house and I might move), neither had problems with space for mouse or so on :P.
Now the surprise: the brownish thing is a speaker, part of a 2.1 old sound system, and I still use it (ye, I'm one of those rare species that can't stand a headphone...)
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, you designed the desk yourself? That's great!
A speaker? It crossed my mind because of the cable I saw, but I thought to myself: "Nah, too small, too slim, that has to something else" :D
Good headphones are really nice but I myself bought myself a pair of 2.0 stereo speakers a few weeks ago. With a headset I always feel a little confined to the place where I sit.
Comment has been collapsed.
Now I have to redesign it, I'd like a full tower case (even if they are pretty expensive and I don't like their design...)...
Well, we'll see in future, this year I don't plan to invest more in anything related to PC (Winter Sale, don't try to prove me otherwise XD), the GPU ate my finances related to this domain already, at the time of buying.
Comment has been collapsed.
For you, it's nothing special, for me, it is :) First I thought: "What does he need all that screens for?" but then I dawned on me: It's your so called "media center", isn't it? You're playing games and watching movies there, am I right? And you're maybe even doing both at the same time?
Comment has been collapsed.
I can't exactly pinpoint why, but you're posting made me really sad :-/ You're saving up for a desk? That is.. sigh
But I have an idea: Is there any bulk waste collection / bulk waste pickup where you live? I have no idea where you live, but in my country, whenever people put their bulk waste outside to be picked up by the garbage collection the next day, it is totally okay for other people to pick up and take away whatever the need and still deem to be okay. This way, you might get a still decent table for free. Only problem is, you have to get it home, somehow...

Nothing special:
i5 9400, 16GB RAM, ASUS MOBO and GTX1660, AOC 27 1ms and 144Hz, 1TB M2, 1TB SSD, and another 2TB SSD.
Roccat Mouse, CoolerMaster keyboard and cooling, plus a few (too many) lights.
Old Logitech X530 5.1 still going (but primarily used in 2.1 mode). Steelseries 1 Headset, Skullcandy Grind headphones for more bass.
Also have a PS4 hiding away (PS3 Superslim sitting on desk at moment cos I was using it to play Blurays)
Mac laptop used for casual gaming.

It doesn't have to be special :) This thread is not about E-peen, but instead about having an insight look into how members of the community game.
Nice to see that you still own some physical games. You seem to have a lot of spare hardware lying around. I think I saw six controllers and at least two extra keyboards, am I right? Are those old things you keep for the case the new ones break?
And where are the goodies from, especially the figurines?
Comment has been collapsed.
Controllers: I have nephews and nieces that I play games with.
Keyboards: Trying out different styles. I like the one I have on desk the most - low profile, bluetooth, and compact. No noticeable lag in gaming.
The goodies: I used to buy lootcrate and stuff, and then started collecting figures properly.
(If I pictured the shelves above, you'd understand how bad my figure collecting addiction has become.)

Three monitors and you're gaming only on the one in the middle? What do you need the others for? And why are you gaming on the smallest one?
Same question I already asked before in this thread: Are you into MMORPGs? Because of the multi-macro-mouse.
And do you have a cat? :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Middle monitor has 390hz. 144hz on the other 2. Three monitors makes life easier, Having discord on my left monitor, Twitch, youtube or whatever i feel like on the right monitor. I do play MMo's and i'm sadly into WoW again because of a friend. Used to play a lot of FF14.
Yes, i have a cat and you can actually see his tail under the desk next to my pc but here's a better pic of him :D

Nice. Everything is so tidy within your case. My cable management is.. Well.. Yes. :D
Are you watercooling? And what manufacturer is the case from?
On the second pic I immediately tried to read the book covers to see what you like to read, but I failed miserably :(
On the other hand I saw that you have a beamer set up on your desk and a - hopefully - cozy chair next to it. So, are you using the beamer to play games on a canvas or are you watching movies with the beamer?
Comment has been collapsed.
This is my first time doing actual cable management. You should have seen my i5 rig that I've sold off in 2020, LOL. Mostly hid everything behind the motherboard bearing plate, tied up with plastic thingies. Nothing special. It's not water-cooling, just one intake fan in the front, one exhaust in the back and top (+ psu fan that sometimes turn on). It's a Thermaltake case S300.
On the second pic I immediately tried to read the book covers to see what you like to read, but I failed miserably :(
Mostly epic fantasy there, in lower front it's LotR, Amber chronicles, the Farseer trilogy and the tawny men, some Witcher books, Hitchhiker's guide, Old kingdom trilogy... above it it's GRR Martin, Donaldson, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell trilogy, some Lovecraft, ... All the way up, maybe not in the pic, it's Dune, Neil Gaiman's various books, Pratchett, Eddings, Wolf, Feist, ...
Back section is mostly domestic classics and professional literature (think grammar, literature analysis, traditional symbols, ...)
On the other hand I saw that you have a beamer set up on your desk
Don't use it as much as I thought I would, but it's useful when there's a CL football match or... I did play some telltale games using it, it was fun. Movies I usually just watch in the chair, as I forgot to connect it, or because my sofa is full of random stuff.

An overkill 1440p monitor for the 1660ti but I'm at least future proof 😁
Got the speakers last week, quite happy with their sound, black box is a (sub)woofer.
Definitely needs some upgrade but still kicking ass on most games:
AMD Ryzen 7 1700X
HyperX 16.0 GB RAM
Nvidia 1660TI OC Windforce
AOC AGON 1440p 144hz monitor
Creative pebble plus 2.1 speakers

I moved to another place temporarily. My "battlestation" is my old PC (just upgraded GTX1070, old ass bottlenecking AMD FX 8320 and 8 gigs of ram :D) near a TV :D my screens, stand, table, chair - everything is in storage or in my car :D
So doing light gaming on my laptop for now. Nothing worthwhile to show.
But since steam deck came out (and since I've noticed I hardly find time setting up and turning on my big PC), I am seriously considering getting one... I suppose the cheapest version is pretty much a no-go since I play AAA as well (and dont want to upgrade SSD myself), the best option would be 256gb or 512gb edition.... But the price is a bit steep and I can't figure out of paying near 700 EUR for the most expensive one is worth it ... But 256gb is also 500+ eur ..... so still paying shitloads of money - wondering if it makes sense getting 256gb edition. Any comments who own it? Or has pondered getting it?
In picture this is how I had set up before I moved. Planning on getting a new place in spring if prices drop a bit, which they might after the huge inflation which energy crisis have caused. Then I will try to do some small upgrades and set up office/gaming space again. Just can't figure if I want to do a new build which now is extremely costly or embrace mobility with SteamDeck and just do minor upgrades for the big PC and leave it with 1070 card and some budget CPU combo for productivity work and some specific gaming on bigger screen.

ikea marcus
I don't trust the stuff from Jysk... the chairs are usually flimsy :D And once I bought very similar chair to the Yisk one and that one broke for me in every possible way :D
The ikea marcus we also have in the office for everyone. So as a side note - I really do suggest the chair if anyone is pondering it. For the price it is brilliant. I mean if you can spare 300-400 EUR then of course there are better options, but for 140 or whatever the marcus costs - best chair IMO
PS. the table as well - around 100 EUR chair from IKEA from their "gaming" line. Has place for cables underneath, back side is metallic and has a slit in the middle for the cables to go under the table. I also used the slit for screw on monitor stand. A clean look in a limited budget. As similar "gaming" tables with similar features cost 2-3 times

Dang, some of you guys have great-looking setups. :)
Eh, my battlestation is actually a raggedy oooold corner desk. I'd like to saw off the top shelves to have more space to add a second monitor. I don't have the tools for that so for now I'm still gaming on a smol screen. You'll notice that I have too many headphones/headsets. Yes, I know. At the end of the summer, I was finally able to purchase a new gaming rig (that'd be the Lenevo Legion tower on the left. I didn't know I liked RGB lighting until I bought it), I'm very happy with it so far. I still have a 5-6 year old laptop aaaaand I've kept my ultra-old potato from 2012 that I keep under the desk. (I still use it from time to time... because there are some programs I wasn't able to install on my newer computer. Also, it serves as a footrest. Sorta.)

It is... but I'm disappointed. It's the perfect size for my height (5ft7), but it's not as large as my previous one. My old chair was a bit too big for me but I preferred that since there was enough room for me to sit crossed-leg. I'm a bit bummed that I can't really do that with my current chair. XD

I've been here nearly a decade but it seems like one of the most obvious threads regarding gamers was missing all the time. So here it is, a way to show us your Battlestations!
Post a picture of your setup, either old school or lit up as a christmas tree, with or without your (gaming) chair, whatever. Show us what you're comfortable with.
If you want, you can also talk a little bit about your setup, why you built it that way, why it looks like it does, what is still a work in progress and so on. You can also list every single item on the pic, who made it, where you bought it, how much you paid for it etc.
The most important thing is: Show us the place where you're playing your games!
I'll start:
A) First picture shows my PC gaming station in the home office. It's my old Full-HD system from February 2015 that I really like to upgrade but I refuse to pay the insane prices NVIDIA has set for the 40-series and I'm still waiting for PCIe 5.0 M.2s.
The monitor is a temporary solution since my old Samsung broke down. Next monitor will be an UHD monitor, but without a system capable of 4k in 120 FPS, there is no need to upgrade the monitor atm.
The bluetooth speakers are new, I got them last week, and they are a welcome addition to the headset.
Light on the keyboard was turned off for the picture.
B) Second picture is the living room. The Home Theater setup - obviously - works great with consoles, so whenever I feel like gaming on a big screen I switch to here. In addition to both consoles, there is also a Steam Link box hidden within the lowboard which is connected to the PC. So any game I own on Steam can be streamed to the TV, although only in Full HD. Both consoles output their games in 4K to the TV, which I like very much.
Now, let us see how YOU play! =)
