I just installed an addon that's very relevant to our forum, as well as some other popular forums like Reddit.

If you would prefer to see an image instead of text here
http://www.webstoodstupid.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Adventure-Time-10-cover.E.jpg
then you can install this addon for Firefox:
Text-to-image .

These extensions will show the image only when the mouse is hovering over the link (thanks to Bobofatt for pointing them out):
Thumbnail Zoom Plus for Firefox.
Hover Zoom for Chrome.

The SG+ addon does this as well, although not for other sites.

Those guys are right. SG+ doesn't do it.

SG+ shows images when you hover over them. I guess I didn't read the description of your addon very well. I prefer show-on-hover rather than replacing the text with a thumbnail.

Not working? Possibly not available for Firefox 25?

Dunno. I'm using Pale Moon instead of normal Firefox.

I've known of Text to Image for yonks, honestly. Haven't had it installed for over a year though.

This seems like the thing that'll mess up user interfaces, no thanks.

Very incorrect. =)

It can be a problem on some sites.

Like, load last post in a forum. Then images show up and you are in the middle of the page. Its why I stopped using it.

I'm telling you guys. Hover Zoom.

FireFox.

Besides, I don't really care. I don't mind middle clicking a bunch of links when I want to see the images.

FireFox Equivalent

Though possibly not quite as good.

I user Hover Zoom on Chrome. It's weird surfing without it.

such amazing. wow. so recommended.

BTW, this one is different in that it shows you the image when you hover your mouse over the link, as opposed to automatically showing it.

Ah thanks man, it's neat, however I see that SG+ link-to-picture preview activates as well with Hover Zoom.
Doesn't matter though, not really an issue.

You can turn off SG+'s hover function in the options.

Or that. Just disable one or the other.

Ah, yes, I had this problem too! Go into the HoverZoom options and add SteamGifts to the disabled sites list.

Got it working. You have to press the icon on the add-on bar to greenlist every page you want it to work on.

It's the opposite for me. My button is green all of the time unless I want it to stop working.

Someone add a 25megapixel picture to this thread, just for the lolz and to show how much fail there is in such an extension :D

I remember a few years back a certain .jpg that would crash Internet Explorer.

Yes, please do that so we can laugh at this guy for not understanding the extension.

I didn't bother to click, you just said it would show the picture. BUT apparently it doesn't, it shows a thumbnail. So yeah, blame me for the lack of information about the extension.

Thumbnails are pictures! So neat! The extension doesn't show a thumbnail, it shows an image that's been zoomed out. It shows the actual picture, but it's smart about showing them at a reasonable size.

And, yes, I blame you for making up information about the extension. Making up your own features is way different than just not knowing about the real ones.

With Hover Zoom, it would only load if I moused over it.

Sounds like a great alternative for people who prefer that!

I like seeing them all at once so I don't have to put any effort into seeing if I care about looking at picture. Just a minor difference in taste.

Click on the swirly icon in the bottom-right corner of Firefox. It's green when the extension is turned on and red when it is turned off.

You know people have been banned for forced logouts ;)

But thx for the reminder, i have now added removal of logout links for SG+ hover.

I don't see anything forbidding it in FAQ, but I wouldn't be surprised, if it was true with such support... Anyway my link is not hidden behind any shortener and addons are not part of SG.

Permalink

The other links were not hidden either and an addon does not really factor into it when you can still click the link.

There's no reason to list "Rule 21: don't behave maliciously" on the FAQ. That's as pointless as saying "Don't post kiddie porn." Behaving like an adult is a good way to avoid bans.
