Totally missed out on CoD Black Ops 6. I'm sure there will be other occasions though. Not that I'm looking for a reason to install the BattleNet launcher again.

There have been more downs than ups in recent years and opinions may vary on which one is great and which ones suck but it's a great franchise overall.
If you never played any of the games, I recommend Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the reboot from 2019 as a great introduction to the mechanics and the franchise. It's also the best of the more "modern looking" games imo.

Do you tend not to play FPS or is it just that the franchise is old so you never dipped your toes?
My gf is way more into FPS than me and CoD Modern Warfare remains the reference she compares every other game to.

I played Medal of Honor back when it was new, and enjoyed that enough to get the expansions, too.

Overall, over the past two decades, my FPS is more often First Person Saber.

I like FPS games that also have a bit of puzzling to them, like Indiana Jones, Jedi, Tomb Raider, Batman -type games.

I get it, you're not into boom boom FPS. I'm the same. I played Marathon for hours and hours back when I was very young but now I'm looking for something more than just blowing enemies away and it's true for other games than FPS as well.

I guess that's why FPS like CoD or Bioshock rose above the rest. The story, strategy and/or puzzle elements made them remarkable in a sea of undistiguishable killing games.

I hope my work schedule leaves me enough time to try CoH3 this weekend.
I really loved CoH2 and I have been curious as most "average" reviews only seem to be "yeah but CoH2 is just so good" which leaves me intrigued as to whether the game is really just average or just getting unfairly compared to the previous one.
Sometimes we tend to fetishize our games and everything that comes after is just a disappointment.
