Are you ready to Rumble with these VR titles?

[T1] Paying roughly half of what I would otherwise pay for these two games on a regular Steam sale sounds an ok buy to me.
[T2] Now we're talking about a sweet deal! I'll dive straight into combat mode with these games.
[T3] A purchase like this would bring my VR collection to its Zenith.
[Have] I've had these games Into my Steam Radius for quite some time now.
[Skip] VR headsets give me Vertigo. I wouldn't be able to play these anyway.

i'm only interested into Wonderer, Vertigo Remastered and Into The Radius VR but it is too expensive for this 3 games so i skip

Into the Radius is $19-$30 on its own, so no it isn't.

Those are exactly the games I bought the bundle for (plus
Zenith.) VR games don't get big discounts, so 3 games for half of the price of one is a steal.

I have a VR headset, but sadly I can't play it -- I get motion sickness almost instantly.

My son has been using it a bit lately, so I guess I'll see if he's interested in any of these games.

Thanks for yet another chart Lilly!

VR can take some time to acclimatise to. I felt sick almost immediately the first few times I played, but gradually it got better. Still happens from time to time, especially with certain games, but it's not as quick or as bad for the most part

Which VR? Oculus gave me motion sickness even when sitting, but Vive was great. I haven't tried any of the new ones (Index etc.) though. Waiting for Valve's wireless/standalone VR (Deckard).

I have the Oculus Quest 2.

If I have the chance to try a different brand I will do it. I would like to get into VR a bit more if I could.

Oculus Quest 2 is perfect and maybe the best, I have it too. It is also wireless and do not use cables.
You have just chosed bad games.
Try room scale or standing games, where you are just walking in your room and using teleporter, those will be good for you now.

And avoid all games where camera is moving with your stick or even without it, so games where you are flying with plane / car or you are jumping or walking (with your stick) are the worst.

After a few weeks you can try something harder for your brain (you will get some motion sickness, but not that bad).
If you get big motion sickness, just skip that game and try something else for now (after some weeks, you can try that game again)
I had it too, but now I can play anything.

I do not want to make advertisement, but you should try for example Beat Saber, that one will get you NO motion sickness.

Kind of crazy, that tier 1 and 2 on their own wouldn't even belong in the bundle list - tier 1 is at 70%, tier 1+2 are at 84% discount. It's tier 3 that pushes it to 90.27%

it's not a great VR bundle. it doesn't worth for the quality/price of the games. 3 games are in EA and the bundle value is all in 3 games: Vertigo Remastered, Into The Radius VR and Wanderer

For VR headset owners it is great deal.
Just Zenith alone cost more than this whole bundle.

Zenith is an online-only multiplayer game that when the servers go offline will be definitively dead

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I know, but it is the only game like World of Warcraft in VR.
It is also cross play, so you can meet people from Steam, Oculus store and Playstation, so do not watch Steam stats, because you will get only people on Steam, that is in minority...
It is not dead yet and it does not look like that. But definitely you are right, it is not good to buy it and play in next 2years, but it is good to play it right now :-)
Btw I was looking on this game and nearly bought it for full price a few days ago...

Uh, what games? I have found just Wanderer that can be played without VR.
And I would not recommend to buy any VR game, that can be played also on monitor.
The "magic" is in VR, so even if any game has poor graphics, easy tasks and short gameplay it can be great in VR, but very bad just on monitor.

Half-Life: Alyx for example.

It's not really playing when mod removes all gameplay elements.

You can still do everything except look around with a headset. There are a lot of games people will miss out on because they can't afford an expensive setup for VR. Not everyone is a streamer.

What do you mean "Not everyone is a streamer"? What does that have to do with VR?

Apart from looking following are true too:

  • You do not need to aim
  • You do not need to reload

Instead you just bring mouse over enemy and click.
Which means enemies never have time to react.

  • Puzzles are completed automatically

etc.

So yes, you will still miss all actual gameplay elements if you're playing with mod.

"Not everyone is a streamer" meaning not everyone can afford a VR setup. It should have been written more ambiguously and not as focused.

All the controls exist, except you don't need a VR headset.
Trying to figure out how my post triggered you. Me playing a VR game non-VR doesn't affect any of you.

I bought my VR headset for 150€ in 2018, it was new, not second-handed. It was a WMR headset (Lenovo Explorer), I know, not the best device, but it introduced me to the VR worlds for a fair amount of money. Nowadays my new laptop moves the games very easily and I've got the resolution supersampled on every game.

I respect your opinion and you should do what you think it is the best thing for you, but VR headsets don't have to be that expensive, unless you want the most powerful/newest devices.

Hi. Pardon me for jumping in on this discussion, but you make me curious.
I quote: " You can play any VR game without a headset."
"All the controls exist, except you don't need a VR headset."

I have now just to test started randomly five of my VR games without my Oculus Quest connected.

Results: A-Tech Cybernetic VR - Starting but not playable. I can move around, my view in floor height
but nothing more.
Conductor - stops at startscreen.
Contractors VR - Starts up, can move sideways and back and forth, nothing more.
The Curious tale of the stolen pets - Only a black screen.
Detached - Get a message of Head mounted device not detected, please restart.

And all those games work perfectly with my headset connected.

Is that what you mean by playable? Ofc there are games that work in both VR and non-VR, I have for example Dead Secret.
Would you be kind enough to list a few of the VR-only games you obviously can play without a VR headset? I would really like to test that myself. I have around 130 VR games so some would be on your list of playables.

Any. You can pretty much play any VR game non-VR.

https://github.com/r57zone/Half-Life-Alyx-novr
This works for a majority of VR games.
Do the research. πŸ€” πŸ˜‰
Should I specify without the VR headset?
Here maybe I should say this.

without VR on keyboard and mouse

I believe you need to follow these instructions. I cannot be bothered to try this method, and I don't own any VR gear, so I don't see why you would want to go through this hassle if you already own one VR headset, but you do you.

Yeah, let's buy stuff from grey market sites from now on. Do you ever stop to wonder why the price for the 2 games in the 12 USD tier are sold at a fraction of the price on Kinguin? Not to mention the source of the keys is most likely the actual VR bundle.

Has anyone had problems with the keys from this bundle?

I tried to redeem my Into the Radius VR key and it told me it's a duplicate. I contacted Humble and they said because I revealed it long ago (in July) they aren't going to replace it for me, and I'm pretty sure I never gave it to anyone. Triple checked my giveaways, trading sites and everything. Which fucking sucks as the game itself is worth more than the bundle.
