Hold the up arrow while you jump to grab onto the ladder and climb up
it.

I played it and got 25 stars before dying, repeatedly, but still got the "Collect 25 for giveaway code" message. I played it on Chrome v 64.0.3282.167
Maybe you have to get 26+ stars for the code? It worked when I got over 25 stars (not sure how many exactly).
