I've done a trade with someone who didn't leave any rep. After the trade they made a point of reminding me to do it, which I did do (would've done anyway). Looking through their rep, it would seem I'm not the only person they've done this to. Should I remove my rep to them or just forget about it. I'm new to the site, so obviously building my rep is important at the moment.

Same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago. After successful trade he ask to rep him, i did it, i was expecting he will do the same and he didn't. I ask him next day to rep me, he said yeah sure and nothing. 2 days later i deleted my rep from his profile. He is still in my friend list. Funny thing is that he is having 300+ rep and 0 negative. Just delete your rep and move on.

Why such a problem with reps? i mean, you did a trade, fine, you get what you wanted from the trade, excellent, there is no obligation to leave a rep. And the most important part, i dont think you should take the rep more important than the trade itself, you can trade with anyone and can get reps over time. I dont think taking your rep of him is something "fair" because you did a trade with him and enjoyed the results, thats it.

Well, given they told this user to leave it, they must care about having it. Its a few seconds to leave it themselves.

Low rep users find it useful. Sure, at a point it doesn't matter, but when you have a single digit worth, it helps.

even i still find want to get my rep after a trade (have over 1000). it might not be useful anymore. but i enjoy hitting certain milestones. it's the same as getting a new CV level, or hitting a nice round number of owned games. and i think, if i take the time to leave rep for someone after a trade, he should do the same. it's just a matter of respect. and a matter of being nice to the guy you just got what you wanted from.

I've given 113 feedback, received 87. It happens. Some people are just... impolite? I don't know what word to describe them.

Thanks for the replies. They're in my friends list, so I'll politely remind them in a day or two, though won't hold my breath, as they haven't repped other people that have left them positive feedback. Then after a week, if I've still had no joy I'll remove my rep from them. I know people aren't obligated to leave rep, though you would put it down as common courtesy on a site like steamgifts, especially as they went out of their way to remind me to leave them rep. Still the main thing is the actual trade went ok and I got my game.

Don't worry most people are friendly enough to leave positive rep after each trade.

He didn't force you to "+rep" and he's not forced to do the same to you as-well.....As for keeping the rep you gave him, taking it back or asking him to pay back it's completely up to you.People have different personalities & decisions. Some of them will tell you not to give a damn shit,-rep!.HELL i'm sure few would blacklist or curse him if they were you.

It's really entirely up to you. There's no obligation for either party to leave rep. If you feel it's right to remove the rep you left since he won't provide you the same courtesy then feel free to remove it. If you're fine leaving it and not receiving it in return then you can just leave it as is.

there is also no obligation to say thanks in giveaways, or to tell someone when you ninja'd his key. still people get upset about those things. it's not a matter of obligation, but of being nice and respectful.

I stopped trading because people either lowball, scam, never leave rep, or just never respond to you just to waste your time. To be real honest, trading is much more of a hassle than anything. If there is something I want I'll check Tremor and if they don't have it I'll wait for a sale.

yoiu obviously traded with the wrong people. most high-rep traders are pretty nice and fair, never scam anyone, always respond, and always leave rep.

Talk to him again about " Getting The Reputation You Deserve " and if he didnt attention to your request again, say them about your decision to " deleting your rep from their Steamtrade profile " and if you didnt receive any feedback ", " Do it " !.
Optional : If i were you, I would delete these model users from my friend-list too !

If you feel don't leaving him rep, just remove it, no problems. Happens sometimes some ppl are just ignorant, so the best way to deal with them is doing the same to them.

Wait a few days and remind the person politely if he could give you rep, because it's important to you since you just started trading and it helps you in future trades...

As for me, I understand why it is important to you, and it happened to me only a couple of times that someone forgot to leave rep, I always leave rep for each trade (at least I hope I never forgot to do it) and never removed it nor reminded the other person in case he forgot...people are busy, perhaps have a lot to worry/think about and after all, if you got your game and it was a successful trade that's what's most important - positive feedback is a way to confirm that all went well and that you trust certain trader, it is not obligatory and you can't force someone to do it. But don't worry, most people are nice and will do it instantly after a trade :)

It's not needed. He can choose himself if he wants to leave rep.

I know it's not needed, and we're not obligated to do it, but when they've asked you to leave them rep, I think it's only right they should take the few seconds out to show you the same courtesy.

Every single time I've had somebody nearly beg for rep like that, I stop and wonder why they need it so bad. Like, who did they screw over in the past? Paranoia is fun. ;D

But yeah, people that do that lose the rep I've left them. Not asking for it and leaving none I don't care about, but doing that's just being a dick.

Exactly, because they asked me to leave them rep, and then couldn't be bothered to return me the same courtesy........ Kind of felt like they flipped me off.

I don't leave rep for trades of stuff worth less than $1. +rep is supposed to make other traders feel safe with you, its too easy for a scammer to do a couple dozen super cheap trades to get legit rep before they start scamming for big stuff.

For someone who doesn't have a lot of rep I can see how this could upset them, but I'm not going to give a trader a thumbs up and tell everyone that they are a good guy when all they did was trade me 20 cents for a cheap key nobody wants.

That's a good rule of thumb. I never really gave that much thought (new here so still learning the ways of Steamgifts), so I'll bear that in mind if I do any low value trades.

Though, I only trade in games (have no interest in keys, cards, etc), and this trade was for just over $10.

Oh well then the other trader should have given you +rep for sure. Just keep bugging them every few days and link directly to your trade rep to make it easy for them. Some people are just lazy. If after a week they don't leave rep then just remove the rep you gave them and move on. Nothing else you can do.

Tell him/ her to reciprocate and if that doesn't happen remove the feedback you left. If he/ she couldn't be bothered, why would you?

You've done your part, you kept your word, and you rep'd him. Ask him if he'd be so kind as to rep you. If he still doesn't do as you please. You have no reason to feel guilty if you delete yours.

Seriously, just keep on trucking. If they did'nt give you Rep, and it really ticks you off, go ahead and take yours down, but don't expect that they'll change their habits. Even if you gave them Negative Feedback, they'd likely just go on doing the same thing. Why waste your time?
