Whether I read anything about a movie before watching depends on a lot of things. I generally only watch older movies (1930-1947 Hollywood, f.ex.) and will watch anything I haven't seen yet, anything I've liked in the past or anything with actors I don't dislike. From more modern movies I generally watch anything with actors I like without reading anything else about the movie. If the movie's based on a book or has a title I think I know where it's from, I won't check it out before jumping in. In case I read something, I generally read the one sentence blurb at most.

If it's a movie I know I want to watch I try to avoid anything about it. Why bother watching trailers and stuff on the new Star Wars movie when I know I'm going to watch it.
