hi everybody. i got a bad feeback on barter.vg for a trade with a user that wanted to give me crystal of time in exchange for another free game. immediately after i accepted it i figured out it was on gleam.io and i just got my free key from there and i added him for explain it. i went out, came back home now and the guy already wrote me in the chat the key for crystal of time. i explained him the situation and he decided to leave me bad feedback for "no item sent in return" but i didn't use his key. he deleted me from the friend list and i can't contact him. what can i do now? is there some form of support on barter?

edit: reading the comments it looks like i'm the wrong one. thanks for the replies to who gave me his opinion.

You agreed to the deal, he gave you the key, he has no way of knowing if you've used it or not, or sent it on. I think even if you do log it with their support staff (if they have one) they'll side with him.

I think the guy gave him the key after he had explained it. I understand this way from what he wrote.

"after i accepted it"

Nope. I can understand that you thought "oh okay i can get it at another place" but that's not how it works if you already accept a trade.
I mean ofc the User could be more friendly and help you but he don't have to.

Sorry

Yeah like i said, I can totaly understand you but... you accepted the trade.

If your game was also for free before maybe just try to contact him (contact a steamfriend or something like this, commend on a picture/review) and give him the key. If the game was free before it should be not to hard to get another key if you need it (tremor for example)

One you accept the trade you are committed regardless of it is a free game or not. I don't blame the other guy for being upset, especially if he already gave you the key. How is he supposed to know that you didn't activate it? Your feedback is deserved.

It still makes no difference. Accepting the trade is committing to it regardless of what happens or what you discover in the meantime. The barter.vg peeps will tell you the same thing and the trader is not required to respond to your friend request. If you discovered a few days later that Crystals of Time was free elsewhere would you expect anything different? It's your fault for not checking before accepting the trade.

i get your point and it's really similar to the other users opinion so i'm the wrong one probably. anyway he don't want to talk and i would just like to solve it

Anyone would (and should) give negative feedback in his position. Once you agree to a trade you don't back out like that. There is no way he can tell that you didn't activate the code. What you did is exactly what most scammers do, so of course he would give negative feedback. See if you can work it out to give him the code and get the negative rep removed, if he doesn't want to then you'll just have to chalk it up and keep this in mind for later.

your opinion is the same as the others, and let me think i'm wrong in this. my intentions were not bad and to see all these people against me made me understand my mistake. i hope the guy will reply to me for solve it.

Sorry but it sounds like the guy was right. If you get to the point where you have agreed to a deal then you should honor it, especially after they had already sent you the key and held up their end. As already pointed out, since the key has now been revealed they have no way of knowing whether it has been used or not. As a trader myself I would consider a key 'compromised' once it has been revealed. I wouldn't take anyone at their word unless I knew them very well.

Guess I'd send whatever I agreed to send, and be glad I didn't offer anything valuable. :) It's not like you're buying a physical object you can just give back. You know you didn't use the key, but he doesn't know. Once someone else saw his key, he can't trade it any more. So he's lost a key, and gained nothing for it. Oops.

Right now, "no item sent in return" sounds like an accurate description of the situation - maybe try to be more careful next time... Good luck! :)

When you agree to a deal, it's final! If you can't honor your part of the deal, then please avoid trading at all. He can't know if you used it, so you must honor your part of the deal. Don't expect them to change your feedback otherwise. :/
