Although I've been here a year, I've only recently become more active on the site, so I'm not sure I understand this...

This morning I was at 5.04, and now I'm 4.38. O_o What happened, please?

EDIT: It's because the base price of FaeVerse Alchemy went down. That's good news! Now maybe more people will be getting and playing it! ^__^

Probably some games got bundled, value recalculated, level adjusted. That's what I heard at least. Might be wrong.

Not if the giveaway ended before the bundled date

Little off-topic: I've been wondering lately: What about open giveaways created before the game got into bundle (days/weeks earlier)? Do they count as giveaways for bundled games or not? I haven't found a clear answer, maybe somebody here knows?

They get bundle value.
otherwise it could be exploited since sometimes games from a bundle are leaked before the bundle release

Hmmm... I guess it's pretty sad when it happens, but with the leaks in mind it's kind of fair. Thanks for the answer.

you get full value if the giveaway was CREATED before the day shown here,it doesn't matter if it ends before or after that day.

It seems that you are right, I've checked with someone who created a Dead Space 2 GA just before it got bundled and they got full CV for it. I'm surprised it works that way because it is quite easy to exploit.

might be. there are many things that can be exploited when people try hard enough. just hope for the best.

Some game you gave went down in price from when you gave it away. It's very common and comes up on the forum almost daily.

A game that u gave away it's in a bundle so it has half of their value

Oh, i missed up then :( prob it was a game that lowered his value on steam :3 ~

Looking at your giveaways, I assume it's because of the base price drop of FaeVerse Alchemy on steam. Used to be like 30$ if I remember correctly.

FaeVerse, I believe that used to cost more? It went down, your value went down. That happens to everyone.

Ohhh, YES, that's exactly what it is! I'm glad they lowered the price! I'd love to see more people getting hooked on it like I am XD

This place gets prices from Steam. If games are permanently reduced your level can go down. It may or may not be fair, that is pretty arguable. But it is what happens.

This is the reason why I do less GAs on this site now. Had the same "shock" as OP a few months ago. Who thinks retroactively reducing CV is a good idea? Even months after a GA was created?

I think that it's the way that SG is coded -- it automatically takes the prices from Steam, so...

Well, wait. Maybe not. We still get full CV for games that are on sale, so now I'm not so sure.

I notice that you have given away a bunch of the same game, how levels work now is after the 5th copy of a game you give away, they become worth 10% less than the previous copy. So the 6th time you give away a $10 game, it gives you $9 in cv. Then it gives you $8.10, so on so forth.

So it may have gotten around to recalculating your cv, and implemented the 10% thing, causing it to drop.

Nah, it's because the price of faeverse alchemy went down.

Yep! Though you were also right about games giving less cv after the 5th time given away, I don't think that applies weeks/months later

IIRC cg said it recalculated your CV in the new SG, including the new "5+" thing, but I don't really remember.

FaeVerse Alchemy used to cost $30, now it's $15.

It's the same with the steam account value? You can be dumped from steamgifts if your games are bundled or they price drops?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I don't think that you get the bundle price retroactively; just the Steam Store price goes retroactive. (Did that make sense? lol~)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It depends on what you mean by retroactive. If the GA ended before the bundled date you get full CV.
But if you give away a bundle game that is not added to the bundle list yet, your CV will go down after it gets added

I was talking about the $100 limit to login in steamgifts. I've entered for the first time about 2 months ago, BEFORE torchlight II was bundled, so counted full price. I've purchased a couple of games since, but I dont know the steamgifts value of my account.

I do have a few more questions:

What about any Level 5 giveaways I might still be entered in?
Do the entries go away?
If the entries stay, can I still be selected as the winner, or might the person giving the game away re-roll?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think your entry is still valid, but the creator can ask or a reroll

Permalink

Your entries will stay but the giveaway maker can request reroll, however unlikely. if that happens I would recommend explaining your situation. Most people are pretty reasonable.

I've been Level 5 twice, and Level 4 in between in the course of a month. Now I'm Level 4 again... (:P). If you were able to enter giveaways for Level 5, those entries stay and should be valid even if you are Level 4 later. Although if you manually remove yourself from those giveaways, you can't re-enter them because you don't have the required level.
