I don't exactly know how to say this guys, but I'm interested in knowing what is, in your opinion the best comedy movie and the best tearjerker movie out there.

I just love movies that are able to cause such intense feelings, but since i watched a lot of movies in the past 4 years (a little over 5000) it's kind of difficult for me to be impressed by a movie anymore.

When it comes to tearjerkers, "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" is the best one I've seen and even though I've watched it for like 5 times, it always gets me.

About the comedy movies....90% of them are complete rubbish, and i just realized a few minutes ago that even the youtube prank videos are funnier than most of them.

Still, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" is an awesome comedy movie and i must say i almost died of chocking while i watched that movie.

What are your favorite movies in these genres guys and why?

It was definitely sad, but i honestly didn't cry at it....maybe because it ended on a too happy tone.

Well I can recommend Top secret!, its a hysterical comedy from the makers of the Naked gun series, but its even more silly. I was literally rolling on the floor at the ambush scene. But it's either a love or hate genre, there's no real story, only gags on every corner :)
Well tearjerkers... It's a wonderful life always gets me. Great performance by James Stewart. Classic stuff.
Also Paths of glory by Stanley Kubrick made me cry too. After the filth you experience in the movie, the last scene will really move you.

The Naked Gun series were extremely funny so I'm definitely gonna check out Top Secret!
It's a wonderful life is one of my all time favorite but i watched it too many times and it doesn't work for me anymore. :(
I've heard great things about Paths of Glory but i haven't watched it so far, so thanks for the suggestion. :D

For tearjerkers: Marley and Me or Crash (2004) (Crash is a really overrated movie but there's one scene that can break your heart.) The orphanage is a horror movie that is also very touching.

For comedy, Garden State. That's all I have to say.

What about both at once? Toy Story 3 had me in hysterics and desperately fighting back the manliest of manly tears.

Also Dr. Strangelove and Airplane! for comedies, and Million Dollar Baby and The Green Mile for tearjerkers.

In not any particular order some of the comedies I enjoyed are: Superbad, Sex Drive, Hangover 1, The Mask but as you said, it's hard to find a good comedy these days. If you liked Borat you should definitely check Dictator as well.
As for tearjerker as well as one of my favorite movies overall is Bigfish. I watched it 4 times now I think and it still gets me. Some others: The Breakfast Club, The Intouchables, I cried like a little baby at the beginning of Up, and in I Am Legend at you-know-which part (spoiler free comment). Also I know some people didn't find it good but I really like Life of Pi.

I think one of the saddest movies (if not the saddest) is Graveyard of the Fireflies

My award for "funniest movie" goes to Mystery Science Theater 3000 - The Movie (you have to be into that kind of humor)

I think it's Grave of the Fireflies, my friend recommended it 2 year or so ago, but I never watched it. I should definitely check it.

I watch 1 to 2 movies per day and I have to agree that it's harder to be impressed over a movie. I don't usually watch tearjerkers though (unless they are rated really good). But what I can say about comedies is that it depends from person to person. Either you have sense of humor for something or for something else - some people understand Monty Python movies, others don't. I have a friend that thinks Adam Sandler movies are hilarious even though I think they are shit. I could write a few comedy movies that I liked, but I don't think there is one comedy movie that will always make me laugh (once you hear a joke in one movie, it doesn't sound original in another one even if the movie you first saw was a remake and the second one original). Oh and I did like Borat too.
