My best profit so far was buying a :compy: emoticon for $1 and selling it for $31 (check it out here) - what's been your best moment on the market so far?

What? Oh man, that's one pricey dino.
I guess my best profit was from a Alyx Vance foil - little less than 10€ with the effort of selling.

Bought a game for 6$ and sold the cards for about 12$, not great but best I've done so far.

Wow, how'd you manage to do that? o_o

At the time there were only two others on the market, both at around $40, and the very next day the game went on a 75% sale so its cards and items dropped in value very quickly. I was very lucky to sell it in that gap. :)

Nice. I was the first to have a foil card for Monster Loves You, but I wasn't able to sell it at a higher price. ; ~ ;

I saw one foil for Runner 2 which sold for $230 and a few other good sellers, but mostly the foil market isn't all that great. :/

WHAT. NO WAY. Who buys these foils?! I need to find like... foil collectors. lol

What?????? I don't believe you, no-one would pay $230 for a foil when everyone knows they drop in price so quickly

They used to be extremely valuable

Sure, but like $10 or $20 valuable, not $230

I dunno. Why does Mattie buy Unusual Team Captains for $1500?

That's different, they don't decrease to a thousandth of their price after a couple of days

Well I'll have you know that I used up only a few dollars to complete my Portal 2 card set, only to get some useless guff, and I only cried for 20 minutes. :3

Probably made around $120 or so in total. I got one of the first series #50 crates which I sold for quite a bunch.

The only thing that I've done was sell a foil card for the Summer Getaway sale right after the end of the sale for 5 bucks. Now they're going down in price again as I thought they would as interest in them decreases - considering that you need an entire set and the other prices were fairly expensive before.

I picked up a Skyrim Getaway foil towards the end of the sale for $1.15. Saw the panic buying when the market was glitching (not immediately adding new listings, lagging like hell) and listed mine under the assumption that it'd show up an hour or two later. It sold for $5.30, pretty close to the peak from what I can tell.

I still have a few other Getaway foils bought at the same price, will sit on them a little longer. :D

Hmmm, prices still seem to be on a downward trend for them.

Yeah I was expecting to sit on them for weeks. The market panic just presented an opportunity for quick cash. :D

Totally ballsed up by hanging on to my foils until SSS, lost maybe £6-10 by not selling straight away.

Probably about £20 up (all gone on games now), which isn't too bad since I still have 100+ cards and crafted to level 20.

I spent my entire Steam wallet buying up TF2 keys for about €1.40 each just before the SSS ended, now I can resell them for an (admittedly small) profit :D

I made few bucks on TF2 items, completed few sets of cards, dropped poop, sold it for 3 bucks, bought Trine II and 5x Just Cause, exchanged that for Torchlight II for my friend. Still got 0.50e left, which I am gonna use to complete more badges.

And ye, if I sold the Summer Sale cards the morning of the sale, which I intended, I could have made almost 15 bucks. ^^
