On the rare chance that someone who has entered multiple giveaways (some duplicate), wins a giveaway and then later they happen to win another giveaway of the same game what does the system do?

If the system does nothing then I have an idea for implementation.

If someone wins a giveaway for a game, any other entries for the same game will be removed and points refunded.

If the system does do something already then sorry for my HERP DERP question/idea.

Merry Christmas :)

My friend won 4 DOTAs over night once, he took one and asked the other guys for re-rolls. I guess it's the only thing you can do in this kind of situation. System removing you from giveaways would be a bad idea IMO.

Hey, that's actually a good idea. I've been wondering about the same issue for a while to be honest.

Seeing that the possibility is very rare but still possible, an implementation of this sort of feature would be good in my opinion, less time and energy is wasted re-rolling/waiting for a mod or admin to accept or decline the re-roll. System would simply notice winning of game and auto remove all other entries to that game/refund points.

Though I still see a flaw in my Idea... if the won games are won at the exact same time (due to giveaways ending at the same time) then the system would probably produce some sort of error and the winner would not receive either of the copies or it would allow both winnings to be redeemed. In that case it would be up to the winner to use their own conscience, Also allowing for a temp ban if both winnings are redeemed due to the winner being a Derp Face.

That and/or if you win multiple copies of a specific game within a day or two and one doesn't follow through (always check the giver's history if you -do- win and find yourself on the receiving end of this problem) you automatically forfeit any claim to the other games, even though it wasn't your fault the giver didn't follow through. The only/best way I can think of that this would work is if the SG system were -much- more detailed and, instead of allowing you to -win- just one game, you had to submit the games via SG (which I'm pretty sure will never happen) and it only allowed you to -accept- one copy of each game. Honestly, that's the only real solution that's fair to both the giver and the receiver, but the amount of extra time and energy spent to accomplish that (not to mention money) would probably not be worth it on SG's part. Plus, I don't know if SG could work with Steam to trade the games through the SG server (and there'd be a distinct disadvantage when it came to keys). The only accompaniment to this I could imagine is if you have to "submit" your copy of the game when you create a giveaway, where the copy/key is checked for validity and then stored/secured (somehow, but I'm not sure how keys would be secured via SG) and then sent to the winner directly from the SG system after the giver does the necessary checks that they are eligible.

But still. Too complicated of a system for an issue that seems like a bigger deal than it may be. I'm not exactly sure how big of a deal this is, but still.

You're idea for the key Validation system is good, I think that if SG could work along side Steam, every-time someone creates a giveaway they must enter the Key and it is validated through the Steam servers or if it is an inventory item an inventory check is done through steam, (so there is no need for inventory to be made public). When someone wins the giveaway other entries to that game will be removed and points refunded and if two of the same games are won at the same time the system could let the winner chose which copy to accept and then the other is automatically declined and re-rolled. This also removes the fact that we have to sync our profiles as this could be done straight through steam servers. As you mentioned though this is probably unlikely as the amount of time effort and money taken for SG and Steam to work together would be pointless seeing as SG costs nothing (apart from web domain) and they make no money off it either (no ads).

I usually make sure to remove my entries after I've won something, but a system to automate this would be nice. I've probably got about 20 entries out there for Ignite right now.

report immediately to support before gifter reports you ofc.
Support will grant a reroll.
Automated would be ok

This could only work in a way of:

1.Every game you check as received is automatically added to your game library on sg preventing you from entering any more giveaways for it (so people who win fake giveaways could still enter/win legit one for the same game)

2.All entries for games that are in your library would get deleted
