Kinda cool. But how the hell would they get items to peoples homes in 30 minutes? They've have to be super fast?

Also I imagine people would be able to knock these out of the sky pretty easily?(Well unless they go really high.)

Apparently 86% of the packages Amazon ship are less than 5lbs, which these drones can carry, and Amazon has been trying to build distribution centers in urban areas so many people would only be 10-15 minutes away. I imagine it would be limited to the population they could service in that short time. I too wonder if they've thought about the drones being damage, especially since guns are so common in the USA!

You shoot down a delivery drone then the enforcer drones show up.

That's what I was thinking. Or what happens if someone orders something cheap and steals the drones for parts (claiming to never have received the package or letting the drone depart normally)

So much flaws in this system need to be ironed out before it's ready for commercial use (not just the regulations as they claim)

or not. It will probably record everything around it and real-time upload to the central or something. I mean, theyre spending a fuckload to implement that system, dont really think they wouldnt do anything to secure it

Quite frankly, it seems good, in theory, but I see so many practical issues with it.

Where did they originate the idea from, Call of Duty?

The joy when you see the drone approach with your new PS4...

The pain when your whackjob prepper neighbor shoots it down saying it's a government spy drone.

So they just leave stuff in people's yards and fly off?

Even leaving aside the potential for knocking them out of the sky, that's a thief's dream.

Yeah, that's almost as dumb as leaving stuff in an unlocked box on the curb!

Basically this. But a bit more realistic.

  1. People will steal your shit easier. Because if they see something carrying a package through the air what's to stop someone from shooting it out of the sky while it's passing over their property and claiming it's theirs. Lets be honest, American like their guns (I'm an American, no I don't have a gun)

  2. People will steal the drones. I mean really, what's to stop someone from catching it and repurposing it for their use. Merry Christmas, you order a $10 DVD player and get a $1,000 drone for free.

  3. FAA won't allow flying objects to casually cross the skies. Terrorism and whatnot, it'll be a homeland security nightmare. And we all know how terrorists like to blow shit up.

As nice as this sounds it just doesn't sound feasible and super costly to implement.
