Call of Duty

If I were interested in diving into the recent (post-COD4) Call of Duty games head first... which "franchise" would you recommend? The Modern Warfares or the Black Opses? Keeping in mind I don't care about multiplayer outside of potentially grinding achievements and/or the rare game with close friends. Thanks

The stories and set pieces seem pretty epic...

Besides, it seems like every douchebag and their douchebag grandmothers play Call of Duty online. Why would I want to associate with that?

I found Black Ops 1 story to be quite interesting, and COD4 also, but that was because I love COD4, and the story was great for when it came out. The others are forgettable imo

The best part is, the people who hate on Call of Duty and refuse to actually answer the OP... probably think they're "better" or "more mature" than the screeching prepubescents that play the games religiously.

For singleplayer: Black Ops 1 > Black Ops 2 > MW2 > MW3
For multiplayer: MW3 > Black Ops 1 = MW2 > Black Ops 2

So I guess since the multiplayer is more of an afterthought for me, that investing in the Black Ops games would be a better way to go? What makes them better?

The Modern Warfare Series is basically a vengeance story, which isn't mysterious at all. You know the big guy Makarov from the beginning, and although it has little twists, something always comes in so you can't kill Makarov, only at the end of MW 3. Black Ops 1 has the greatest story of all CoD-s, as you wake up in an interrogation room. You don't know much, so you get the rest of the story during the missions, and BO's story is really well-written. It has twists, and an epic revelation. Although the "boss fight" isn't that good. I mean you just drown the actual big guy, with pressing a button continously.

Did you played call of duty World at war?
I'm think no.
You can't say of all COD if you haven't played them all.
And yes I have.
WaW has the best story and everyone how has played all COD say the same thing as me

BO stories are realy bad .
And I don't know if you know that the veteran modus so easy is in BO.It's like normal in MW

Havn't played the single player so can't comment on that.
However in my opinion this is what I think for multiplayer.
MW2 > Black Ops 2 > Black Ops 1 > MW3

Honestly as someone that has played them all here you go.

Modern Warfare = Decent single player and a fantastic multi-player.
MW 2 = Not that great single player with some cool levels here and there with an mostly broken multi-player.
M3 = Avoid

Black ops = Fun sp, Fun Zombies, Fun MP, Fun
Black ops 2 = Basically BO1, but with a better single-player, a horrible strategy portion and a worst (but not bad) everything else.

Honestly go with the Treyarch games. (World at War and The Black ops games)

Those are the ones that I personally enjoyed.

I've played them all, but since the question only refers to the Modern Warfare and Black ops series, I only left my thoughts on those games alone.

So you also played Call of duty 1942 if I don't be wrong it was a special edition.
Oh and do you play also the COD 3 .
It was horrible with the wii Controller

I'm guessing with 1942 you are referring to the first game in the series correct? Then yes, I started with the original. I also play COD 3 and only tried the wii version...so yeah....

I sad that I haven't a PS2 it would make it a lot more easier.
And you also think that the Veteran modus is too easy.
I can remember on COD for Gamecube (if I'm not wrong it should be COD brother in Arm or something like this)
that was so hard a sniper would one shoot you and 3 boulet of a German MP7
And you should be dead.

Brother in arms is actually a completely different game series although it is also on the Gamecube, the COD games that were on the GC were Big Red One and Finest Hour. Check Veteran on World at War, that game can get unfair easy and quick. COD 2 MP though was kickass.

Oh yeah as an amy vs japanes guy that was not easy
And the Tank Mission with the flammetrower I love that mission
But thr Veteran mod was really hard(snipering two shoot tank -_-)

Havn't actually played the story but the only thing i enjoy in call of duty is the zombies mode. For that reason I would recommend the black ops series.

The SP campaigns in all COD games are so short its not worth the money. You can find much better SP shooters.
