Will you buy this software bundle?

View Results
Tier 1 looks decent. I'm buying it.
Going for Tier 2 - I really need this software!
Good bundle, if only it was a bit cheaper I'd buy it...
I need to think about this, since I won't be able to upgrade later if I buy Tier 1.
Not games, no buy.

Thank you for posting, Sensualshakti! :-)

Tier 1 for now maybe another purchase to tier 2.

Rytmik is a pretty solid little chiptune synth. I've only got the basic version myself, but a few musicians I know have upgraded to the ultimate edition and use it often enough.

Should be a good prog for beginners wanting to experiment and see how things go.

I'd buy if I didn't have Rytmik Ultimate + DLC from the Humble bundle it was in already. (Still a bit tempted for Nimble Writer and Rytmik Lite (even though I have Ultimate), and would play around with VoiceWarrior too if I got it ...)

Wanted Nimble Writer ever since it got released. But considering I have no interest in any of the other stuff I'd get a better deal on it on sale maybe (barely according to historical lowest price though). So this is going to be a pass for me.

Same here.. Nimble writer seems really cool, but I dont care much for other software.

btw. Didnt even know this program existed.. I was like "Whaaat" seeing achievements for writing app.. But seems cool, can be something to push you through if your not being motivated enough.. God knows I need something like that, havent put anything down on paper for so long, my imaginations lacking..

You could try FOCUSWriter - its free and open sourced (likely an inspiration for NImble Writer it seems).
https://gottcode.org/focuswriter/

Have used it myself a fair bit in the past and I rather preferred it to the likes of WORD etc for extended sessions particularly.

I was also interested in Nimble Writer, but I find the markdown language very limited.

Guess I'll stick to asciidoc. There are several asciidoc plugins for Atom, including a live preview. It's just not very comfortable to export to PDF / ePub / Mobi, but it can be done. HTML export works great out-of-the-box.

You like Rytmik? You can use OpenMPT for free. Plus, OpenMPT is a true tracker unlike Rytmik. Also beware of the Rytmik's EULA if you intend to make commercial stuff.

Havent heard of OpenMPT before. Will give it a look, cheers!

Edit: and yes indeed, Rytmik isnt great for commercial stuff, but is still a nice entry level piece of software for those new to making music via a computer, and can still be quite fun for those of us that have done it for a long time. Certainly for the price, its not terrible deal if the criteria we have applied fits.

Indeed, Rytmik is good for having fun without having serious intentions about the end result.

Otherwise, if your work happen to be the next big thing (unlikely but possible) you already gave them full copyright rights and complete control over it (the moment you used their cloud feature). The sheer fact they included that, just in case they happen to come across a golden ticket, makes me avoid their program altogether. Despite the dev statements saying it's ok to create and sell your work, the legally binding terms are in there, just in case they need them and they can assume control over your work at any moment.

I don't have anything against them in particular but I'm totally against using shady practices to (I could even say abusively) take over the work that people worked for and each time I see something like this it kind of gets me triggered because not everyone pays attention to EULAs and fine print.

By creating user-generated content and uploading it to Rytmik Cloud you automatically grant CINEMAX, for a full term of copyright, a worldwide, irrevocable, transferable, non-exclusive, no-charge and royalty-free, unlimited right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, perform, play, distribute, sub-license, create derivative works of and otherwise exploit in any way known, including commercial exploitation, this user-generated content.

"exploit in any way known" - their wording, not mine :).

I wouldn't see the EULA too serious, the cloud database already has more than 9000 songs and some of them are based on others in there too. I can't see how they would be able to ask like 5000 different people for permission. It's probably just the only way to not get sued, you know, like in a revenge for getting banned from the forum or whatever else. Also it's not too hard to make Steam take any software or game down by using DMCA on it and sometimes it takes longer to get it back. I also can't see why you would use such a program and service in the first place because ultimately, anybody can sell anything without you knowing it, no matter what's in the EULA. Just give the same song a different name and there you go.

I wouldn't see the EULA too serious

It can become quite a serious thing if it gets to that. That's why I said it's there just in case they need it. Dormant until it's needed. Otherwise, a simple usage license grant would be enough to cover anything related to their service. There's no need to assume full control/ownership.

Unfortunately for them, that contravenes copyright law - without a signed conract between two parties such a licence cannot be made / rights handed over.

But yes, I totally agree!

My reading of the product descriptions is this is Tier 1 for the person who wants to mess around with the looks of their pc's desktop etc, while Tier 2 is more for Content Creators (music, writing etc?) Am I totally lost? partially lost? on track?
Though VoiceWarrior could be great for programs that support it (barring, of course, a privacy flaw therein, whether real or perceived).

Just read the Rytmik EULA: Thanks, but no. I prefer to keep the rights for my intellectual property. :/
As soon as it's shared to their cloud you basically give them the right to do with it whatever they want.

That's a really poor ToS by them. Thanks for the heads up.

The Live Wallpaper Master looks interesting, but since my desktop is filled with icons, it seems kind of pointless.

You can access your Desktop and all icons from Favorites in the left pane in folder or explorer view, just disable the icons from being displayed on the Desktop itself then?

I use Launchy to get the stuff i need fast, Windows 10 comes with a similar functionality by default, iirc.

Who needs Desktop icons? Looks pretty ugly.

Okay. I would use Live Wallpaper.
Maybe Rytmik too, but I'm not good at making music. I can play but not create sth so complex. But maybe I would give a try.

Nible Writer? I dunno. I like my WordPad much. Also using Notepad++ for codes. But could give a try.

Voice Warrior - does it works with any game? And how exactly it knows that I want to press specific button in a game?

SPATIAL SOUND CARD - I don't get what it is.I mean... this is software to make the sound sound (lol, when the noun and verb is the same) 3D? Cause I don't get what it is for. I mean. I got Windows for that. My Realtek do it for me. Also got Steelseries Arctis headphones and I got not working program for it (even though I registered my headphones in it). So what exactly is it for?

Rytmik is relatively easy compared to native chiptune and audio production tools. Still takes a little bit to get the hang of it. But there is tutorials, right? =)

Nimble Writer looks interesting and has much more to offer than WordPad.

Voice Warrior is a scripting program, the better the script, the better the usage and execution.

Spatial is supposed to give more natural surround, not overly mixed or simulated.

I know Nible offers more, but MS Word also offers more and it's still worse for me than WordPad. I need a simple tool to just format the text. But I won't just give up on it. I will give it a chance

Script... but how can I know what scripts game are executing?

So is Spatial really worth it? Is it good? Will it be any difference?

The main thing I want is in 1€ tier, that's why I'm curious about second.

I'm really curious about Nimble Writer. However, it appears that according to Valve's TOS, Valve has the right to use anything you write in it. See here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/348200/discussions/0/618459931322570952/ (I haven't read the EULA Nimble Writer itself has, so I can't comment on the devs and such.)

Since I'm an author who hopes to be published, even if the chance is small of having my work scooped up without my "permission," I don't want to chance it. Still, I write fanfics from time to time... maybe it'd be worth it for some fun with that? XD
