It was expected for a few days already and now it's here. Mobile hit available on PC for free. but sadly no Steam version - you need Bethesda.net client (can be DLed here ) and creating an account here: https://account.bethesda.net/en/join. Game is still DLing for me, so cannot say if it runs good or not, but thought I'd share it's out anyway ;)

I have an old phone so could not play it because it does not support older Android versions ;p So I've been waiting for PC release, because unlike games requiring touch input or Pokemon Go augmented reality thingies - there was no valid reason for it to not come into PC - gameplay-wise it's made for PC ;p

Played it and can't say it's very good. It's OK I guess, but super boring and too simple. Also on my phone it's very unstable. The PC version is supposed to be a little bit upgraded (some outside roaming), but not sure if it will change anything in a long run.

The phone version also got a patch today. It changed the UI a little and added quests.

Downloaded it before bed last night, haven't tried it yet but I am glad it came to pc, should run a lot better on my pc in stead of my crappy Galaxy Tab.

If it were on steam I'd definitely give it a try. If it was DRM-free I'd probably still give it a try. But having to make Bethesda account and install their client? Not happening.

Because?

Permalink

Inconvenience, the need of yet another name/email/password combination, one more barrier in your way when playing games, another crappy DRM you have to update and launch all the time. I could go on but I won't.

Well if that's all I still don't see why you wouldn't play it, updating goes automatically and I don't see how making another password is very hard to do. I guess it's their loss, it's a fun game even without using micro transactions.

Wasn't that fun, not enough to justify the above. Already have experience with the game.

Yeah you are right, it wasn't worth the 10 minutes it took me to register and download the client and game ;)

Jokes aside, I've enjoyed it quite a bit so no hate from me :)

Hope you enjoy it. Just seemed like yet another base defense/building game. After the debacle on my iPad, just don't care anymore :)

In my experience, it's not making the password thats the hard part. It's making ones I can remember easily, which actually isn't as easy as it seems given that I have a penchant for ones with case-shifts and numerical characters. I had a 30 character password that I had no issue remembering once, but Google truncated it because it was too long.

I have a small notebook with my game related passwords and usernames, getting older so I forget sometimes :)

I use Password Safe.
There is no way in hell, I could remember (atm 380 different) random passwords that contain 20 characters with lower and uppercase, digits and symbols.

Once you install it, the game actually can be run without the client.

That's a good thing I guess. I'd have to be a fan of the franchise to install the client though.

Having steam is enough. I don't want to bother making accounts and downloading clients from anywhere else. There are only few games out there for which I'd be willing to make an exception.

It's a shame, cause I was looking forward to playing it, but I won't do any of that bethesda BS, so I guess I can't play it.

other users reported that once you install it via client you can play it without it - so if you really want to, you can DL it via client then uninstall it and play the game like any other DRMfree one.

There are only 2 things for me in the client, some Fallout 4 workshop thingy and Fallout Shelter. Try pressing the "all games" tab.

because just saying no I dont want a bethesda account is "not enough" for an explanation

You are right - it's not profitable - It's a catch 22 - people buy fewer windows phones because it lacks the apps - and apps are not being made for it because people buy fewer windows phones :/

If it's available on Steam for free and has achievements then I wouldn't mind.

Otherwise it's a big and definite no. Especially not since the game was boring and repetitive as hell. Got old after a week.

When did Bethesda start doing their own launcher?????

Probably just now and Shelter is their way to promote it - so far there's only Shelter and some Mod Workshop or sth for F4 available in it.

I really hope that they don't start making their games exclusive to that, or making them use it like the Ubisoft games use Uplay.

they probably want to. Games exclusive to their platform means no need to pay steam their cut. Will they thou - only future will tell.

You're probably right :( Unfortunately, being exclusive to their launcher would also mean I have to have more crap installed on my computer. Steam, Uplay, Origin, Battle.net, now Bethesda.....when will the madness end???

But will the data be eligible when the real version comes out and the download button on Play Store becomes available? I don't want to play it so that one day everything I worked for will be erased :p

it will - data is tied not to specific apk but to your google account. If you log in on another phone or anoer apk but with the same account you should have all pokemons available.
