I have seen quite a few comments on the creator's post (by the creator) saying 'RESERVED'. What does that mean? Can't I comment on RESERVED comments or is it something else?

Reservation of the top comment (for visibility) for later edits without disturbing the original post. Typically.

I never understood the point when you can just edit the OP. If something is important and you want it near the top of the page so people see it, it should be in the OP. Some people will read the OP, but not check the comments, even if it's the first one.

I could see needing to reserve the top comment if you plan on creating a massive thread with the OP going over the character limit. I think the limit is 10,000 characters.

yeah i've seen some threads where it makes absolute sense, like cjcomplex's 'monthly in a month' series, but it seems like some people just automatically make a reserved post on all of their threads. i've always wondered why as well. just edit the original.

i agree those are reasons that make sense, like i said, i've seen some threads where it does make sense, but i've seen others where it's like they just add that 'reserved' post as default.

Better to have it and not need than to need it and not have it. :)
