Halo: Spartan Assault worths it?

yup. I've found it to be pretty entertaining and fun. Was a fan of halo and its a great take on the IP.

Not really IMO, if there wasn't a HALO in the title - it would get that much of attention.

Notice that Halo Wars is a Strategy game.

This is an action game, the typical to play with controller, one stick to move and the another to aim.
I found it amusing, but there are a couple of bad stuff that didn't like at all.
No coop (All Halo games got coop), no colour to choose for the armor or customize your little Spartan, and the aiming is a bit assisted.
Other than that, is an entertaining game. If you gonna take it, do it in an offer, i got it from Humble Store because i always been a fan of the saga. 2,99 USD. No more.

Nothing compared to the original ones, of course.

I bought it and ended up getting 100%. I enjoyed the game and I'm not a halo fan at all. I enjoy the franchise but I only bought the games because my friend loves Halo.

For 4.99 I think its worth it. I never played Halo Wars so I cant compare it.

The campaign can be beaten in 5 hours or less and even after you beat it, there's a crap ton of challenges to do. The way I see it, you get an hour per dollar for the campaign. If you play anymore than that then you're getting more than your money's worth.
