I'm up to three gift copies in my inventory now, and they've sent four or five extra keys to my e-mail as well.
Their "well, it'll probably maybe possibly be free to play once it leaves early access, who knows" approach was always pretty.. off.. but they definitely ended up running that free-or-not-free dynamic to extremes. Of course, it was implied from the very start that their chain-letter-freebies approach was due to wanting the game to be both free and drop cards, so..
Well, it definitely sucks for anyone who actually paid money for the game. :P

I see plenty of people not owning it yet even in my small friendlist. Just pick a random one and send the gift without asking, repeat until someone wants +1 and cards.

I could easily find use for couple dozen copies even after this topic made me get rid of the 1 gift I had. But since you can't send them to people who already own the game, others will have to figure something out on their own. It's still nothing compared to trying to get rid of old gifts that spawned 4 more copies per activation, those people just added on top of 1:1 card trades.

i remember my friend wanting it so brought it for them, they were awkward and having a hard time accepting. when they finally did they got a copy and gifted it to me but of course i didnt realise. all i could think was seriously i couldve refunded it but turns out i basically brought a game for myself
