Refunds only work for items like that if they are not used. I believe once you use a key/case you can no longer get your refund

Wouldn't they look to see if it was something that was a one time use though?

This. PP won't care to look and they will most likely issue a refund, BUT Steam will eventually ban you. It could be a community ban, trade ban, VAC ban or a combination of these. If you try to transfer the items to another alt, they will most likely lock all accounts associated with the scam.

Steam generally try their best not to be exploited like that. You are only looking for trouble if you try it.

And, even if PP would do some checking, it seems like you could involve a second account.

However, it seems like it's what Steam will do when they find out the payment has been revoked that might get you into trouble.

You'll probably get that account (paypal) blocked for any transaction with steam, so you'll need a lot of pp accounts AND steam items will probably get destroyed, so basically you'll have to scam people.
It's not that fair imho :P

Luckily Volvo reversed trade for me, no harm done ^^ Only they got perma trade ban and locked out account.

I guess you either got extremely lucky or Volvo support is just lagging before locking you.

I remember at least 2-3 topics here on SG with users crying that they've had PayPal ChargeBack by mistake (they paid with PayPal with attached CC, PP proceeded payment, , CC company informing PP of chargeback due to error or insufficient funds, PP doing Chargeback opn steam and Volvo issuing a trade ban on these accounts. In one case I particullary remember after contacting steam support explaining it was payment error not scam attempt and a lot of waiting for support reply it ended up changing Trade Ban on 60 days Trade Lock - still meaning that if you get caught doing so you either end up with useless account or won't be able to buy/trade/sell for 2 months. So not really worth it.
