It had a infamous release, but after all the patches is it worth playing?

I like it, have played a lot, and have had its value returned a long time ago. I still play it. But I always liked it since the beginning, even though before the Monster Power patch, I thought the game was too hard, but accepted "Inferno" wasn't for everybody...

Hehe, I never got good gear, and never had money either, to buy things from the AH (or RMAH).

There's no more Normal, Nightmare, Hell and Inferno like before, nor there's MP. Now it's like the console, you have the equivalent of MPs as difficulty levels: Normal, Hard, Expert, Master, and Torment I~VI, and the monsters will level with you. The higher the difficulty levels, the harder the monsters are (damage and HP) and the more experience you get (and some other benefits).

The game plus all the patches is gonna take a long time to download if you get the digital version. I have the game in hard copy form

Pros of the hard copy include:

  • Awesome packaging, nice to put into a collection
  • Comes with guest passes, a Diablo notepad and a proper full colour manual
  • Don't have to wait ages for the game to download, it's already there on the disk.

If you can wait for the download then overall the game is good, but even better with the DLC

Are the guest pass any different than what anybody can get now just by making an account? You can play Diablo anytime up to level 20 if I'm not mistaken. WoW game and expansions used to come with guest passes too, but it was useless, once the recruit-a-friend program gave the same thing with more benefits to the inviter.

guest passes are public and not needed anymore since end of 2012. they work the same way as free account. Game is 15 GB and downloads here for less than 20 minutes.

Tried it early on, felt pretty much like this. Gave up on it and never looked back.

I bought D3 right before the expansion came out, when it was on sale. Then saved for the expansion, so I never had to deal with the last couple yrs of issues and major patches a lot of people who got it early did. I play it once a week on average, a little here and there, taking my time. I am in the expansion with my first character (mage) and close to the halfway point of D3 with my second character (witchdoctor). I tried a monk for a little bit, got through the first act of D3 with her and decided I didn't like her, so deleted her. At some point, going to create a demonhunter and try that out; may eventually try a barbarian. I have enjoyed it all and glad the bf talked me into it. Part of the reason I never bought it when it first came out was the money (didn't have) and also because once I heard you HAVE to be online to just log in and play, that was a huge put off, because when it released, I didn't have a regular source of internet; it was either go somewhere with free wifi or over to my friend's house. Not the way to play a game. XD From what the bf has said though, it is better now than it was. My buying it got him back into it and we coop from time to time. I have heard some like it, some aren't to happy with it, and some really don't have a real opinion on whether the current version is better or worse. Only you can really decide for yourself, because everyone is different. Can't hurt to give it a try if you already own it (though, as everyone already said, if you need to reinstall it or do a ton of updating, it will take a while). And if you are on the line about the Expansion, wait a little while, until the price drops and is more reasonable. I almost NEVER buy games/expansions brand new, esp that expensive, and to me, it was worth it. But in the end, only you can really decide for yourself. If it helps though, most of what I have heard and general consensus seems to be in favor of the current version of D3 and its expansion.

Same here. Bought right before expansion with the 2.0 update which addressed a lot of the problems everyone complained about (bad loot tables with even worse stat rolls, inferno difficulty wall, AH). Now it seems with the new loot variety a lot of builds are viable to play in the harder torments so whatever your playstyle is you can use it. The next patch is going to add even more loot and seasonal ladders with season specific loot if you rank high enough. The exact details aren't all there yet. If you don't own it yet OP, there should be a free trial until lvl 20. Try eet out.

If you are bored of Torchlight 2(Try SynergiesMOD and HaknslashEssentials before giving it up) and PoE then its probably worth a go if you find it on sale.

Completed Diablo 3 with addon , big fan of original Diablo games.

Disliked it and won't recommend it to anyone. Addon is good though, but without it Diablo3 is a dull, pretentious over-hyped clone of the second game.

To me it's worth it. It's a nice game that I last played in 2012. I started playing it recently and I can say it improved a lot. However the expansion is cheap ass DLC to me, overpriced and not worth it.

Can you get suspended for necromancy?

Well, if so, then all of us who swapped over to divine classes to pray for such a thing didn't waste our efforts. Kudos to us!

yes, because it seems it's a worse offense than trading on sg. 🤷

but don't worry, someone will make a thread to defend him and complain how rules are unfair. ^^
or maybe not because he's not high level... elitism sure is nice on sg <3

Unless you're high level, they bury their useless heads in the sand, because they can't get a mob together to gang up on support.

It was shit when it released. Now, yeah it's worth playing. I've put somewhere north of a thousand hours into it I would guess across PC and PS4. It's still not perfect but it is enjoyable.

D2 was a better story with better enemies, but the combat in D3 is far more polished (makes sense really) and engaging.

While this thread is under some impressive levels of necromancy, I'd still like to drop reminder that Grim Dawn and Median XL are a thing.

And Path of Exile, which is free and constantly adding new content.

I was a huge Diablo II fan, and preordered III but I was really disappointed in how they basically took away builds and MMO-ified everything. To me, Grim Dawn and Path of Exile are more Diablo-like than Diablo III. Not to say D3 is an awful game, I played through it with a friend at launch but didn't really feel like sticking around after that.

I love looters, and Diablo 3, i enjoy the first time playing the main history of the game and the dlc, and my first season, afther that it was just boring to me. All the new season just a new armor with a """"new"""" effect, all the farming it's all the same thing. And i know that it's something common on looters, but for me the main mechanics are not that fun to play again and again.

TLDR: For a single player or coop campaign game, it's good, for loot and endgame if it's your thing, not worth it imo
