Steam support is most likely the way to go in that case

Unfortunately, I can't help recover items, I don't have inside connections with Valve, or play golf with Gabe in the evenings. If you have an issue with a user, and you're sure they were not being impersonated, you'll need to leave negative feedback on their profile, and contact Steam support to see if they can further help.

I see you didn't deny playing golf with Gabe in the morning.

So you have checked that the URL of the Steam profile you get to when clicking on the link on the Steamgifts profile of this user is the same that the URL of the Steam user you traded with ?

99% of the cases - it's not the same person - it's common practice among scammers to impersonate well known high rep trader - change their avatar, nickname, profile etc to look the same - they then add you give you link to this trader rep claiming it's them and scam you.
Let me ask you this - did you add this person yourself to your friendlist using their SG profile or did they add you? If they added you it's almost certainly an impersonator.
