Beta needs to be added to your account, the app is freely available now.

What about security of user login information? Android is OpenSource platfrom and as such, your user credentials are open to anyone with little to no hacking experience. It's enough that you download the wrong app from the market, and your private info is at risk!? Apps are the back-doors to Android platform (with all those permissions that, without second thought, you agree to when installing a new app).
I might consider installing this app, but not before I see some security study from devs :D

Yeah, it's very unlikely that anyone would loose access to their Steam account through this. There are far easier ways for nefarious people to get at information like that. Just look at how many people happily run "keygen.exe" or similar files from random sites they know nothing about, thinking that they can score some free stuff.
Compared to any random PC out there, your phone is a fort... no matter how insecure the Android marketplace might be.

You two are probably right.
There is also a problem if you lose your smartphone, or if someone steals it. You can't drop a PC from your pocket in a full bus :D So it's wise that you don't let the phone/app remember your credit card info (if it has that option)...
I'll probably try the app anyway, thanks!

Every time I have logged into the app it has asked me to check my e-mail for a new key from the steam guard. If you are worried about loosing your phone then all you have to do is make sure you log out after using it.

Wait so you can't buy mobile games through this? Then what the hell is the point of it?

Anyone want a beta invite? First person to ask for it can have it :D

So I got an invite from a friend to get into the beta. However, I haven't received a new invite in my inventory to pass onto someone else. Is this unusual? Or was I not supposed to 'add to game library' the invite my friend gave me, but instead keep passing that on? I'm so confused.
Regardless, it's pretty cool. Now I can bother people on Steam from anywhere ^_^. I do wish the friends list had 'tags' enabled though; I have all my friends sorted nice and neat on my computer, but then digging through the mess to find someone on my iPod is tedious xD. I enjoy having 'recent contacts on the top though!

I'd like an beta invite if anyone have any which they ain't going to use. I'd really appreciate it.
The app looks really cool and I've been looking for one but my phone was to old the run the app called "Steam Droid", but it can run this. So that's a thumps up :-P

This is purely wishful thinking on my part, but I noticed that there is a mobile version of Osmos available on Android marketplace now(not through the steam app, to clarify), and I own Osmos on Steam. My HOPE is that at some point Steam will give you mobile versions of the games you buy from them, or at least a discounted price if you own the game on Steam already. Or maybe they'll start selling 'packages' where you get the PC and mobile version for a lower price than buying both separately. Anyway, this mobile app opens up a whole world of possibilities, and I really hope Steam takes advantage of them (and not our wallets).

Sooo my school's public wifi blocks Steam; but puahahahaha this app allows me to bypass that ^_^.
Question though. If you sign into the app, does it have to be open for you to remain online? Or if you change programs, does it sign you out? Because this could very well become an alternative for texting if the former is true XD.

Wat? None of your friends have an Android nor an iPhone? I already have an invite, but lol :-D
