sometimes Steam gives you useless coupons for games that worth only in 1$ bundle or at 95% sale, like I am Bread.

It's just a different visualization of what's effectively a sale (but less beneficial since you need a coupon to take advantage of it). Since you obtain a coupon you feel that you're special and the offer is special for you, even though it's not. And as people said, mostly it's for games that are worth way less than the discounted price anyway, so either way you get tricked if you actually buy it.

When they give tons of coupons for the same game, it often means that it's going to get bundled or highly discounted in store soon. What's the expiration date ?

Thanks for the info. Since I know that lord GabeN is not philanthropy-driven, I find interesting that this massively distributed coupon ends just before summer sale... Sounds like "buy it before price drops more" to me, but I'm notoriously bad-minded :)

Looks like you were talking with kids. It's very unlikely that writing comments or taking part in events has any impact whatsoever. Some of reasons that would be more viable are: checking if you have purchased a game from the same developer, sending coupons to selected regions of the world or just being chosen at random.

Generally, though not necessarily, receiving a coupon unbidden is because you own another one of the developer's games, and they give you a coupon to their other game as an advertisement.

I wish there was a way to opt of of getting these coupons. I've only ever considered using one and it was a 90% off coupon. I didn't even us it, in the end. I consider them spam.
